How would I go about creating an affiliate link (or backlink?) for a friends website?
Let's say they have a product on their site but they dont have an affiliate progra
When someone joins an affiliate program there are tax related questions that must be answered. The person who signs up gets the commission and the commissions are reported on their taxes. The affiliate link id they receive has their special link code in it and they will get the credit. You are not allowed to used their affiliate links on your site because that is not the terms and agreements of the affiliate contract that was signed.
Hi - they would need to set up their affiliate program by using a plugin such as Easy Affiliate.
They would then be able to create links that are tracked. They are responsible for the commission payout, as they are the ones benefiting from the sale.
If your friend wants to track and pay you for your efforts, it is needed to have some software in place that provides that ( tracking and affiliate links) or joins an affiliate network that has all that.
If it is a real close friend , who you know really well. You could agree to have a sort of discount coupon code , so your friend knows when that code is used it comes from you.(and can pay you a commission) But then you need to have a close friendship and trust in one another.
