Hey Lexxx,

People want the info first, that's what my stock marketing buddy tells me, but I always want to makes things perfect and sometimes you can get sidetracked with all the shiny objects and never get things done.

Just keep in mind that you can change the layout very easily afterwards. Changing themes is a cinch.

Hey Lexxx<

There good enough! You have to pick one and run with it and get your information down. Just get started!

Do your due diligence with legal forms, disclaimers, privacy policies etc that's important .

Just because the templates are formatted doesn't mean anything other than being a time saver for your personal taste.

Consider Wordpress templates as being shells and that they come in different shapes and sizes and you can use themes or child themes and plugins to spice things up!

Good luck!

Kal

Thank you Kal...

I appreciate your reply! So far, everyone has been very helpful. As I said to Carson below, if it weren't for the specific purpose of this site, I wouldn't be so picky, or slow to jump. Since it's something I want to be taken seriously by this caliber of viewer, I'm taking my time to build it properly. I've almost selected the template I'm going to go with... I'll post it up here for anyone interested in seeing what I put together.

There are thousands of templates to choose from within WordPress Express, so if you take your time and go through them, you will find some very awesome ones.

However...

This brings up a very interesting topic... A BLAND (as you call it) theme is going to convert better than a fancy theme every time. Your website theme really makes little difference to your sales, the FOCUS needs to be on your content.

If you're interested, check out the theme that we are using for the WA Affiliate Bootcamp. This theme is going to turn into an awesome authority site that gets tons of rankings and ultimately earns a lot of money. We chose one of the most "cookie cutter", bland website templates that we could find for this.

Here's the site: http://waystoavoidscamsonline.com/

WHY did we choose this theme?

...Because spending time on a fancy theme is a waste of your time. Focus on your content, and choose theme that has a clean layout where people can easily browse and navigate. After you start ranking and you want to add some customizations to your theme that is fine, but always ask yourself the question of whether or not those changes will actually make you more money.

Everyone wants a fancy looking site, when in reality the most effective sites out there that earn the most revenue are simplistic.

Carson

I really couldn't have said it any better... that's sage advice.

I think the majority of your response here was addressing a comment I made, but I don't see where I said anything about the sites being "BLAND". Either way, whatever I said, it provoked a great reply from you and I'm simply writing back to say thank you for the comments. I've already scoured about 30 pages of the templates available on word press and I'm working through the "favorites" I chose, in order to finally pick one for this. If it weren't for the fact that I'll use this site for my 'financial company', I wouldn't be spending as much time just choosing "the right template". For the next site I build, I'll most likely be able to just "shoot from the hip" and pick one out quickly to begin adding content and the go live with it.

Thank you again Carson!

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate, Lexxx.

The websites provided on WA vary from extremely bland, to professional templates. It would be worth mentioning that these templates for a content management system called Wordpress are certainly more than enough for most businesses starting off.

However, the difference between choosing these templates is that "what you get is what you get". Hiring a web designer offers you a variety of services. Granted, choosing the right designer for the job can come with a bit of a learning curve such as viewing their previous work, credibility of their website, and a lot of luck.

I myself when designing a website for a small to medium size business choose to pursue purchasing a template over re-designing one from scratch. No sense in re-inventing the wheel... I of course, never leave it as is. In fact, once I'm done tearing it apart, one can never tell it was based off a template. Designers do this to save time and money for both parties and clients don't typically care as in the end, they will still have a unique product.

Corporate identity! The biggest reason why to hire a designer. This defines your business cards, brochures, signage, promotional items, and of course the look/feel to your website. Beginning a business is tough, so choosing the right image that defines your business is a good choice to choose from the start.

In summation, the WA templates are more than enough for any business starting off with a tight budget. However, most business owners don't understand the "DOs", and "DON'Ts" of a website. This can push away potential clients. My personal recommendation, include the cost of a website into your business plan before requesting a loan. Also, there are plenty of grants out there, couldn't hurt spending some time looking into receiving funding for a website.

I hope my input was insightful!

Hello Wayne.. Thank you for the words of wisdom! Perhaps there will be an opportunity for me to have you help me out with the 'final template product', once I've decided to put some $$ into it. You appear to have the background for it.

Thanks Again!
