Is subscriber count the most important on YouTube?
Subscribers Don’t Equal Revenue on YouTube
A lot of people think that more subscribers automatically means more money — but that’s simply not true.
Take my own channels as an example. My “gaming” channel has over 12,000 subscribers, yet it brings in less than $10 in revenue.

Meanwhile, my “vlogging” channel has only around 2,000 subscribers, but it earns over $60.

The difference?
Video quality → watch time → CPM.
As Mr. Beast often says, “It’s not about how many subscribers you have — it’s about making videos people actually watch.” A small channel with high-quality, engaging content can outperform a huge channel with low retention.
If you’re growing on YouTube, don’t chase subscriber numbers.
Chase better videos.
That’s what brings views, watch time, and revenue.

Good morning Les,
That's an interesting subject, as I believe that every YouTuber likes to see subscribers! However, just over the last month or so, I have been hearing that subscribers don't matter quite as much as what we think. I'm also hearing of relatively small YouTube channels, that are highly successful.
I listen to quite a few successful people on YouTube, so I keep here in this over and over again. Interesting stuff!
Have a great day and thank you for your post.
Roy
You are very welcome! In the future you should see the numbers change as I'll be more active on both channels.
That's good, Les, I believe that being active and consistency makes a huge difference!
Have a fantastic weekend.

You are very welcome! Now, we will see how much we can improve these numbers over the next 12 months.
Let me know how it goes. I am debating working my Youtube channel again. Time will tell.

Another aspect, especially with live streams is consistency in scheduling. I haven't had that before for the long term. I would over stream and burn myself out because I really enjoyed live streaming. Now, I am forcing myself to stick to a minimal schedule so I don't burn myself out. And, since I'll be "retired" I can keep my schedule and do other things around it that are also productive.
That's a good point. I have never been good with scheduling. I'm curious and will be watching where "retirement" takes you. To have that freedom is awesome.

ChatGPT is arranging my schedule into blocks of time. I think that will make it easier when life changes what you are doing at the moment.
I'm happy I lived long enough to experience AI, to be living in the "future". ChatGPT and Claude impress me a lot and are very helpful to what I do.
Can't wait to get the physical Robot asst to work around the house.. haha

It probably won't be that long; however, affordability is another thing. Have you seen some of the videos of bots that are taking on human form? :-O
You make some good points. Have you tried sending people to a gaming shop like cd keys. Com using your affiliate link? They pay 5% which isn't much but you still could make a lot more than $10. I guess you don't know until you try & experiment what affiliate program works best.

That's a smart quote from Mr. Beast.
