Classic Online Mistake
I'll keep this short simply because there is no need to ramble on about this classic mistake.
So what's the mistake?
When it comes to generating traffic I see so many online marketers being 10% good at ten different things when they should be concentrating on being 90% good at one thing.
If you're trying to many things you'll NEVER get good at any of them.
But if you concentrate on one thing and become that expert you'll see more success faster.
And yep I'm sure I'll have my critics - but it's been proven time and time again that trying a bunch of different things all at once will slow down your success or even stall it all together.
I think the problem is that almost every week some new method of traffic generation is promoted, and people feel like they will be left behind if they don't jump on it.
That's crap.
For example...
On my blog I posted about Periscope - the latest shiny object and I said watch you'll see all kinds of Periscope programs for learning all the tricks of Periscope pop up and it will only cost you X amount of dollars.
Now you can't shake a stick without someone promoting their Periscope program. This is doing more harm than good in my opinion because it is changing people's focus on what they are doing.
My cavet to my last statement is if you're looking to learn about periscope and be the expert sure maybe consider buying a program to hit the ground running.
But if you're already focused on a traffic method, forget the latest thing and stay the course with what you're doing.
I know there are so many ways of generating traffic, but honestly pick one and become that expert in that method and you'll see faster results.
Plus your work day becomes a lot shorter because you're not trying to do ten different things in one day everyday.
The hard part is not to be seduced by all the claims of what you're doing is not the thing to do. Ignore all that, more often than not it's just someone trying to get you to buy their product.
You're not being left behind - in fact you'll be ahead of the pack focusing on just one thing.
So whatever you choose.
Content marketing
Facebook
Google+
Facebook ads
Google adwords
PPC
Banner advertising
Pinterest
Instagram
Video marketing
Ezine/Solo advertising
Media buys
and on and on.....
Pick one and stick to it - and become the expert.
You see, anyone method will provide you with all the traffic you'll ever need. But people are conditioned to think that they need to do it all.
No wonder so many people struggle to generate traffic.
And here's a little tip.
Once you become the expert, you can then create your own product and start selling that.
Affiliate marketing is fantastic but you're still at the mercy of the affiliate owner. Any changes they do, you have zero control. And this lack of control will affect your income.
Worst yet if they program closes down altogether - then you're really screwed. I've seen it happen to great programs.
Having your own product is real freedom. It provides you with the freedom to keep all the money.
And the freedom to have your own affiliate program where others sell for you.
Here's my path to true freedom:
Affiliate Marketer to Product Owner to True Freedom
I believe in you

You are sure right. A long time ago I Iearned this when doing, of all things, a degree in Agriculture. My friends who went on to practice what they learned were always ready to hop on the new farm machinery, new seeding methods, new this and new that. And nothing had a chance to work before they were on to the next NEW.
Leo, do you have a website I could take a look at?
