Hi everyone. I want to give you all a little info about me and explain why I created this website. I watched my wife Amy die from long-term alcohol abuse (she passed away in November 2006). I was abusing alcohol on a daily basis right along with her. On Christmas Eve of that year, I quit drinking and proceeded to attend my 1st AA meeting that night.

Despite making the right decision to stop drinking, I had to deal with my body's severe reaction to suddenly being deprived of alcohol. I couldn't sleep for three straight nights. I was hearing voices in my head. My dad drove me to the local medical center.

The doctor on call probably saved my life by giving me meds to treat my DT's (Delirious Tremendous). My sponsor Chuck helped me enter an inpatient rehab program. I transferred into a halfway house, Cochran House, after finishing rehab. I've struggled with alcohol use ever since leaving Cochran.

It was during my longest sobriety period that I self-published "Overcome Any Personal Obstacle, Including Alcoholism, by Understanding Your Ego" -- www.lulu.com/spotlight/leewriter -- a self-help book inspired by own struggles to stay sober, Amy's death and Eckhart Tolle's writings.

Since releasing the book, I have self-published a follow-up title, "The (Breaking) Bad Path to Enlightenment & Sobriety", available on Smashwords.com and as a Kindle title.

I have also read numerous self-help pubs and studied self-improvement products. I started this site in order to help others help themselves become better versions of themselves by providing information (blog posts) and links to a variety of tools to empower folks to rise above their sometimes less-than-ideal past.

Hi Lee that takes courage to let things out like that, looks like you are well on the mend and sharing the processes can be such a helpful thing to do. Best wishes as your journey continues.

wow, now theres a website about helping people. Its simple, but well put together, and i am sorry to hear about your wife.

Thank you so much for this post...no one is 6 years old and puts being an alcoholic on their "bucket-list" .."Gee, when I grow up, I'd really like to be an alcoholic"...but congratulations to you for the Grace of recovery and Gift of freedom from your demons...I know that doesn't happen in one black-belt maneuver. I'll certainly check out your book when I'm up and running on my websites, but one is a non-for-profit for Adult Survivors of Early Childhood Abuse, as they are at higher risk for relapse into a variety of obsessive conditions, alcoholism and substance abuse, eating disorders, sex and live addiction, gambling, shopping, etc., etc.,and some need to really dig deep to have that psychic change sufficient enough for recovery. Congratulations for your success and best wishes the success of your sites and book. Recovery will always be your greatest gift and greatest success~
Kind regards, Charlotte
