Record Timing

I have been reading post about members getting indexed. I remember the excitement of my first post getting indexed. What a great feeling.

We all know that the amount of time that it takes to get a post indexed can vary. Never have I had one to get indexed in less than 15 minutes of submitting it. This was record timing for me.

I am truly excited about this and feel that it is more proof as to how far I have come since joining a little over a year ago

This is just a short and sweet post today. I have lots to do, as I am sure you do as well. There is a little more that I want to share with you.

What Is Normal Timing?

I don't know that there is a normal timing for getting indexed. There are so many things that are to be considered.

I have had them indexed in a matter of 24 hours to months. There are 2 post in between the one that was just indexed and the one that was my last to be indexed.

I still have a number of post that are showing that they have not been indexed and they were written several months ago.

However, I had asked about the indexing in my beginner days due to having some post that were a few months old, but weren't showing that they were indexed.

Carson replied that this could be because the system is not real time. I am just wondering, what is the normal time for indexing?

The messages that we get about our sites/post being indexed come from Wealthy Affiliate and not from Google.

I am sure that posts that were written a year ago should have been indexed. Wouldn't you think so too?

Rehashing and Improving

I have decided to revisit this older post that are still showing that they are not indexed. Since I have more knowledge now than I did then, I may find the reasons for this myself.

It can never hurt to go back and revamp older post. If they aren't even indexed, then this may help in more ways than one.

I have noticed that there are quite a few of them and may take me a little bit to complete. But I am really anxious to see the outcome of this.

I will be sure to submit them to Google once I have fixed any issues that I see and updated them.

I would love to hear your thoughts or advice on this as well.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann

Two articles that I wrote about 6 months ago got indexed at the same time. It was funny because I just posted a new article and I thought that one was getting indexed! Now that's record timing 30 secs!

But it wasn't that article.

Anyway still plugging along and loading more content on my website.

Glad to see you are still here.

Great information Lee Ann!
Time going back to improve our older posts is well worthwhile.
All the best,

KyleAnn

I agree and thank you KyleAnn

Thanks honey, you too! :)

still doing this guys? just curious if yeah Have a great day...

Hey LeeAnn,
I have been revamping and checking out all the links on my posts. I'm finding some broken links that I know where good when I posted these.
But like you said I was new to blogging then so I can fix this now. It's time consuming but needs to be done!!! Hope this helps.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thank you Elaine for sharing.
It is definitely time consuming, BUT, by fixing what is broken, it strengthens our website : )

I hope it doesn't take long.

Can't say that I know what is the norm with indexing. I've had posts indexed in two days others took two months.

Thank you Mickey. I agree about the timing. The one thing we do know is that it all depends on the value of the post and the keywords used, as to whether it makes it to the first page or not.

Always a pleasure to see you my friend.

B okay so I'm completely new at this and I have no idea what index is or indexing can somebody please explain this to me, thank you so much.?

Search machines like Google, Bing and Yahoo will check your website or posts as soon as they hit the internet. They will check for article contents, relevance, authority, depth and once accepted, they will index you.

And index is like put me on the front page kinda?

No, that is what they refer to as ranking, meaning you are on the first page

Hello Bonnie.
No worries my friend. Not everyone knew everything when they first joined either.

I sure as heck didn't. I didn't know anything when I first started.
You will learn as you progress through the training.

If you still have questions, be sure to ask. This community loves to help others.

As for indexing, it is when Google finds your website. It is like when a new neighbor moves in. You are put on Google's radar.

Once you start choosing keywords, writing content, getting comments on your post, you may start making it to the first page for certain keywords.

That is what ranking means. You may make it to page 1, 5 or 20. It will just depend.

Landing on the first page of the search engines will give your website/post a better chance of someone clicking on it.

I hope this has helped you to understand.

Thank you I completely understand what indexting is now. Thank you so much for your help.

No problem my friend. I hope it helped you.

If you don't understand, always ask. I asked a ton of questions when I first joined. It will help us to truly understand.

I don't place much effaces on my google ranking just every once in awhile I will write in my URL to see what pops up. I know my google ranking is good because it shows at 100% I would be worried if it was low. So I go with my gut I maybe wouldn't make much money on my gut but he I love what I do.
always a better way
Linda

Thank you Linda for sharing your thoughts with us.
Are you talking about the stats in Site Content?

Whatever the source, I hope that you are seeing good results : )
We all have to go with our gut at some point.

seeing good results Lee Ann thanks
Linda

You gave good ideas. I have been thinking about going back and revamping a few of my posts. Sounds like it would be worth doing.

Hello Fran and thank you for sharing.
I have heard from other members that this can be good.

I have started at the bottom with older post that have not been indexed and hopefully this is what they needed.

It may just need a complete overhaul : )
I hope not, but time will tell.

We all like to be indexed by Google as soon as possible. But there is another factor that nobody talks about and that worries me.If my keyword does not have hardly any visitors to Google ,let's say less than 10 monthly visitors, then being indexed by Google even in the first page does not do me any good. Many of us choose a keyword that does not have competition ( Jaaxy would tell us that it is a great keyword) , and end up being number one in an empty island. What am I missing?

I see your point, and that was one question that popped up in my mind when going through the training. Go for a keyword that has more traffic when possible however, there is a reason why they suggest going for those keywords with low traffic, WA is assuming you will easily rank on google because there is less competition for that keyword. If a keyword has 40 visitors per month that’s 480 hits to your website and because you are in the first page, you get better results than competing for say a keyword with 5,000 visitors but a lot more competition which makes it harder to rank on the first page which in turn results in a lot less hits to your website than the 480 you would have received by being on the first page. As a newbie it is better to target low competition words in the beginning while you are still learning and practicing. As time goes by you will be skillful enough to compete and gain authority for the higher traffic keywords. Practice makes perfect right ? Be patient and remember this is a long term business model, you will learn more as time passes and because of your education and experience in building your own website you will be able to target higher traffic keywords in no time. You will learn the sweet spot for keyword traffic also. Message me if you have additional questions

Thank you for a thoughtful and detailed answer. Your reasoning is clear and addresses my point ,which unfortunately is not always the case with other answers. To find the balance between traffic and competition when selecting a keyword is then the key. I also will try to use more than one keyword in my posts with the second keyword being a slight variation from the first as this might add to the traffic. Thanks again.

Hi Lee Ann. We are reading all the time now that Google likes it when we update posts, provided those updates are meaningful, i.e. dotting a few i's and crossing a few t's won't do it. Look forward to reading about your success with your planned updates of your older posts.
Colette and Philip

Thank you very much Colette and Philip.
I hope it does the trick. I look at it this way, if they don't get indexed, then this means that I am still doing something wrong.

I will definitely let y'all know how it turns out : )
I truly appreciate y'all.

Wishing you both the best in all you do
