Let's Get Busy

Hallelujah!! I don't know about y'all but our girls have been back to school for almost a month now. I have been telling myself "let's get busy" as I have been slacking in WA lately.

Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with them and not having to get up before the sun comes up to get them ready for school.

This was my first summer of being a member here at WA. It was definitely much harder than I anticipated.

Especially because the SWAG challenge was heating up immensely. Of course I fell behind, but I didn't give up, nor will I ever give up.

I Feel Your Pain

I have been a stay at home mom many times throughout the years, but I have never tried to build a website business or learn about affiliate marketing.

I have really only had to focus on being a stay at home mom/housewife. While the girls were out of school though, I got a taste of what some of you go through.

I know many of you have offline jobs as well as a family to take care of. I feel your pain. Even though I don't work outside the home, I have plenty of WORK in my home.

Some of you know I am very active in my girls activities and sports, as well as taking care of all of our animals. That is a job in itself.

How Do We Get Back On Track

Getting back on track may not be as simple as we think. I didn't even have a schedule for myself before summer break rolled around.

In order to get back on track I now have a schedule. Someone (Kyle) had suggested this and I never really got around to making one up.

So that was my first official task. This was no easy task, especially since Kyle has started changing things up on us in the SWAG challenge.

How do we create our self a schedule? Your first priority is determining the amount of time to allow in your schedule. I have 10 hours Monday through Friday, most of the time.

Like I said. We all have a different lives outside of WA. If you work offline, have young children that may not be in school or have previous engagements, you need to allow time for them.

My girls get on the bus at 6:30 A. M and don't arrive home until 4 P.M. So i have 10 hours at home. Just me and our animals.

The picture above is our Polish hen Elvis. Yes a hen named Elvis.

Our chickens and ducks take up at least two and a half hours of my time on a daily basis. Sometimes more. It just depends on how needy they are.

Creating A Schedule

When we create a schedule we need to know how many hours we have to devote to not only Wealthy Affiliate, but everything that goes with it as well.

Things like research, training, creating post/video, getting comments, social media and so on.

I have to give myself at 5 hours dedicated to creating a new post. This includes the research for it as well.

I allow myself 30 minutes for posting on social media, and for socializing. I know that isn't much time, but I hate social media.

We need to pace ourselves. The night before make a list of what you need to do the next day. Determine about how much time you have to complete the goals on that list.

Like Kyle said, if you complete everything on your list with time left over, add something else to the list the next time.

Of course our list will change depending on where you are in the training and with your website.

Time To Work No Play

For some of us we do our best to not get distracted, but fail miserably. I do this quite often. I will be doing research and have 10 tabs open and maybe only 3 have to do with the post I am working on.

No one can really turn their phones off or just let them ring in fear of someone having an emergency and really needing to get a hold of us.

Most of my older children will text instead of calling. My mom on the other hand is a different story.

She calls me A LOT, but I don't mind. She is disabled and her health is diminishing so I will talk to her.

I can still work as we talk, most of the time. If I can't then I shorten our conversation. My 2 girls know I work on my website as I have stated in a different post.

When they get home from school we have conversations and I am still able to work, for the most part.

I do take time out to help the youngest one with practicing soccer or to make them supper, go to practice, game or girl scouts etc.

When It is work time it needs to be just that. Time to work. Distractions can cause hours of wasted time.

So Let's Get Busy

If you have a system that helps you to stay on track. I would love to hear it. Maybe it will benefit myself or others.

Wishing you all the luck in all you do

Lee Ann

Hey LeeAnn,
I'm really looking forward to creating a new schedule when I move into my new place.
Right now it's just get the emails read, pack a room or clean up a room, write a blog, help granddaughter with her homework or supervisor and listen to her excuse of why she didn't turn in yesterday's work, cook supper.
Don't get me wrong I love my life but I will be glad when it settles down a little!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Elaine, that is a prime example of how things have get in the way of our schedule.

I think you are doing a great job considering the things that you have going on.

I hope you realise it as well my friend : )
I really appreciate you sharing with us.

Very well said Lee Ann!
We all have to learn a new schedule when we add WA into our lives.
Thanks for sharing yours.
PS-Elvis is gorgeous!
Happy Friday.
KyleAnn

Thank you KyleAnn.
I REALLY appreciate your thoughts.

I believe that as long as we continue to try, never give up and keep moving forward, then we can't be to hard on ourselves.

Elvis is so SWEET unlike the Polish Rooster : (
We stuck with Elvis even though it is a she. because of her sideburns and the way she moves her head : )

She loves sitting on my lap at night before we put them to bed.

I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

I would love to have chickens but live in a neighborhood where it’s not allowed.
Someday when I get my little place in the country!

I have lived the city life and hated it. I love our country life. I think everyone deserves to have it, that want it.
25 miles to the closest town and super market is worth the drive in order to have the peace and scenery.

Love the picture of Elvis! He reminds me of the Silkie hen we had growing up, and her name was Hilda.

Hilda and our dog, Skipper, became best friends and followed each other around all day. They copied each other with Hilda learning to beg for a treat and laying on her side to take a nap in the sun alongside Skipper.

Great memories!

Omg. Wer have two Sikie Roos and the little black one (Sonic) loves our golden retriever Clarance. They get along really good. Sonic loves to lay on Clarances back.
We have 17 all tigether and 4 ducks. We inherited the neighbors Turkey. She is Funny and loves our 11 younger hens

So cute! We're down to 2 German Shepherds and 2 crazy cats since we just had to put our 17 year old beautiful black cat to sleep. My husband was thinking of getting chickens, but I vetoed it. With a huge garden, fruit orchard, taking our grandson back and forth to school, my online business, and how he spoils the animals we already have--I'm too old for more, lol!

I agree with you on that. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me.
It is so nice to know the OTHER side of someone : )

I didn't realize what I was getting into when my husband and I agreed to let our youngest one get them.
But she loves them so much. However, I feel a heartbreak is coming real soon.

We have 3 roosters and the Polish Rooster has started attacking her and I.

I don't want to hurt him and am not sure why he is doing it. We have been nothing but good to them. I am not going to have him attacking her. The 2 Silkie roosters are kind and loving and so is the Polish hen that I have in my post.

We try to go out early enough at night to sit with them and give them "lap time" before putting them to bed. They LOVE it, and so does one of our Brahma's.

Any advice on why he might be doing this or what we can to to stop it? If we don't figure something out, I will be forced to give him away.

Look at this one. I had to show you: )

That's too bad, and I wish I had some insight, but my parents were the ones who knew how to raise chickens.

We had 3 geese when I was younger along with several ducks and all the chickens. For some reason, the geese were fine with my older sister and I, but would chase my younger sister to the school bus every day. Unfortunately, it got so bad that we wound up with goose for dinner. The weird thing was that my younger sister was the one who always fed and spent time with them all, so we never knew why these geese started acting that way.

Hope you get it figured out and love the picture of Clarence and Sonic!

I like to have a schedule to work to Lee Ann. I find it easier to work that way, although a positive mindset is always an advantage too.

Derek

Thank you Derek.
This will be my first time trying to work around a schedule here.
I will definitely be as positive as I can about it.

I think having a schedule will definitely help me.

A mother is always wearing multiple hats and multi tasking.

You are so right Judson, but so are dads and grandparents as well.
It depends on our life and who is in it : )

Always a pleasure to see you and hear your thoughts my friend.

Great post Lee Ann, especially in light of an oncoming avalanche pf major distractions, many of which such as sports which people turn into almost idolatry, potential weather events, the start of holiday season, etc.

While each one of us runs his or her WA involvement independently, we all benefit from posts such as your since we do not have a personal trainer, minder, or drill instructor to keep us focused and on track.

A South Florida law firm principal has formed small groups of high level professionals which meet at least once a month and which feature one of them as a speaker on a specific subject. They all contribute and all move projects along.

His best and simplest advice? Never eat alone. Use the meal time as a family cohesion time or in the professional realm as time to collaborate, network brainstorm, propose, report on and complete projects.

While we all benefit from this great global WA platform, I think it will be a great idea if small groups of WA members (perhaps both basic and premium members) can be formed to conduct weekly or monthly meetings to showcase their own progress, share ideas or otherwise encourage each other to achieve their individual goals.

The basic members participants will then be further encouraged of becoming members, choosing mentors, niches, etc. or overall gaining confidence in the greatness of the WA platform.

In doing so, even without thinking, no such virtual event participant will want to join without having completed the "assigned homework" and therefore the entire group will move forward with their own goals or pursuits.

As the exceptional servant of Christ Kim Clement used to say: "Eyes that look are common, eyes that see are rare" we can too in that manner remove the scales from our eyes and the chains of distractions from our minds.

Blessings!

Thank you Gabriel.
That was truly inspiring and educational.

My family always eat together and play together. They are my first priority.

As for the grouping up concept,, your thoughts on that aren't alone.

There are a few members here that have an "accountability group" that is similar to what you are describing.

Everything that you have said makes one stop and think. Thank you for putting it in a different perspective.

Wishing yo the best in all you do
