People Are Funny and Some are Crazy

Some people will overcome what look to be impossible odds against them - and they will achieve success.

Others can’t seem to find their way out of a paper bag - or accomplish much of anything at all.

I’m of the curious type and always study human behavior - especially what separates success and failure between different people.

The main difference is mindset.

How a person sees themselves in this world and the wold around them determines their own fate.

Believe in unlimited opportunity - or believe others are holding you back…

What you believe is true in your own mind - and determines what actions you will and won’t take.

By the way - often what people adopt as ” their truth “ is absolutely untrue in reality of the real world. It’s just a false self imposed limiting belief that they MAKE into their own reality.

Wishing for things will not get them either…

I’ve met a lot of frustrated people who want things they do not have. My question to them is “what are you doing to make that a reality?”

Often the response from them is to look at me like I’m the crazy one. But to me - wanting something and never asking for it or making any effort to get it - yet somehow expecting it is crazy.

Example - I once got a promotion after only having been with a company for a few months.

My pay doubled, I had a staff of people to assist me - and a nice title as well as a private office and lots of other benefits.

A long term employee who had been there for fifteen years wanted to know how I got a job he wanted - and felt “entitled” to have and he got passed over.

I answered his question with a few questions of my own. I asked him;

Did you ever ask for the job?

Did you do anything to learn how to do the job and develop the skills needed?

Did you demonstrate any knowledge or skills that would show you are ready for the additional responsibilities of the position?

The answer was that strange look…followed by the word no to each of my question.

My answer to the same questions was yes to all. I told the owner of the company and my direct supervisor what I wanted and what I had done to prepare for the role.

I also was able to explain specific actions that needed to be taken and how such changes could be implemented.

Within 90 days of the first time I did so - I had the job.

I have repeated that same process numerous times in my life - enough to KNOW with certainty that it does work.

The same is true in sales.

The same is true in personal relationships too.

But the reason people are funny is because lots of people think the things they want are some how supposed to just appear - or be given to them.

Sorry but life doesn’t work that way.
