What Is All This Email Spam?
Well, I needed a new domain name. This one was for a very specific purpose, not even a marketing site, and really only matters for the next seven weeks. The dot com wasn’t available, and I really didn’t want something weird like .xyz or .club or that sort of thing. Since I am a US citizen, I settled on .us – I like that.
WA can’t do that domain, so I went to the place where I’ve purchased other domains in the past. Got a really good first-year deal, and things seemed to be going well. I came back here and started working on the site.
Then it happened. I got spammed, and bad.
Now, about every 20 minutes, I get another email from somebody wanting to design my logo, write my blogs, or set up my web site.
How do I stop this? And how do I prevent it in the future? What did I do wrong?

I've only purchased with namecheap outside of WA and, have never had this experience.
WA and Namecheap have WHOIS and ICANN guards included with the purchase price and renewals.
When you purchase new domains ...wait I'll find you the link I know there is an article or 3 about it here!

I keep editing and, adding more info, apologies, This one is from Kyle: Domain Privacy Protection, Closing the Hole to Thievery. I was helping a friend with a Godaddy domain and they were paying around 10 bucks for the WHOIS guard I believe.
I could be wrong (I often am) but, this may be the cause of the influx of spam emails.
Thanks for the info. I bought this at namecheap, but I noticed it processed differently than others from there. I'll park it in a couple of months. Live and learn, I guess.
Oh! Okay, maybe you skipped this WHOIS guard check box upon purchasing?
I know it's an option and, I also now they were one (if not the first) to rally for this option for protection.
Maybe, contact support if you can't see an option for it any longer. Namecheap was really good to me before I started purchasing just through WA (also, very good to me) so, here's hoping you get it sorted fast!

I am happy to say this stopped almost as abruptly as it started.
After further checking, I've learned that the .us domain registration does not include the $0.18 ICANN fee, nor is the WHOIS Guard offered. Must be something unusual about this restricted domain, which I am not likely to use again.
Anyway, things seem to be pretty normal for now.
