SLAP! SLAP! - The Site Comment Putdown!
At least that's what it felt like when I got my first 'rejected site comment' notification. So, to keep others from experiencing that here's a very brief summary of the difference between site comments and site feedback.
Site Comments
Think of Site Comments as being physically on the blog or page and you are in the comment section of the post. This is not the place where you're critiquing writing style, grammar, broken links, etc. Here, you're actually making comments on the subject matter. What are your thoughts about the subject? Do you have any experience with it? Is it something you've considered, or something you've tried? And, if so, what was your experience? Pretty simple, right?
Site Feedback
Okay, here is where you can critique. Here you can talk about those things that will help the author improve readability. You can discuss whether you believe the intent of the author comes through in the post. If asked, you can talk about color schemes and page layout.
When giving site feedback, pay particular attention to what type of feedback the author is seeking. And, when you do comment, be constructive and be helpful.
When we keep these differences in mind, everyone wins!!
