That didn't do any good. I even cleared the cache while it was shut down. I think i'll open a ticket with GeneratePress instead of sitesupport, after all it is their program. thanks for the advice.

if you are using the free version of gp then how much support can you expect to get...
if you were premium hten yes definitely you wil lhave support...
but this maybe a problem with the installation of wordpress...which gp supportcannot help you with...or a problem with a plugin...which gp cannot help you with...
so for me sitesupport is the first port of call if i cannot solve it with a google search...
i really hope you get it sorted

it sounds like there is a glitch in the system...
maybe close the site and try logging in again...
if that doesn't work then open a ticket with sitesupport for them to have a look
click on help at the top and select sitesupport...
i hope you manage to get it sorted
