I have a published child page, that I want to move to a different parent menu page. Can I change the parent page attribute for that child page or will it mess up the permalink?

Yes. In your WP Editor, disorder all the child pages of the pagination to 0 and then reset taxonomy.

I have moved the child page to where I want it but can I change the actual parent name in the editor under the page attribute? I just don't want my permalink to automatically change and cause bigger issues.

The permalinks are why everything has to be zeroed first the a new mother can be chosen and then you will be free to re taxonomy without breaking pagination which could (due canonically) also cause it to cascade.

When you say zeroed, do you mean assigned order in the page attribute? I have not added any order, but have manually placed each child in the order that I wish. So, am I able to change the mother without any issues?

Okay. You have only created a drop-down menu. You're fine then.

Yes. I have a drop down menu, with parent menu names and then the child names drop below the parents. So, I can change the parent name for the child page without any issues? The permalink has the parent name before the child name, but I do not need to change that, I only want to move the child page to a new parent menu page, in a drop down menu. If by changing the parent name in the child page will change the permalink and cause issues, then I will keep the parent name the same, but only relocate the child page.

Yes.

Sorry, but Yes, I'm fine to rename the parent on the child page?

Yes. Rename it as long as when you open it, do not change the original.

Feel free to change how it appears in the menu. I.e. Change home to welcome, just leave the slug as home.

OK. Thanks. I do not plan on updating the permalink, only changing the parent name for that child page.

So, in the edit, I can just change the parent name on the child page, then click update and that's all I need to do?

In your menu, you can open the line item and change the name. Yes.

So, change the parent name and update. This will not mess anything up or change the permalink url?
Thanks.

Hi Laurie!
How did you resolve your blocked resources in Google search console?

I have 2 banners, one for the women's line and the other for the men's both on separate pages. I don't have any problems and I check them regularly to make sure they work well.

I haven't heard of this and would also like to know the answer.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Patsy.

Do you place the code of your banners in the the content where the text tab is? Mine are at the bottom of the page.

This is where mine is unless there is another way.

I place the affiliate banner code on the side menu as a text widget. I've tried adding affiliate banners to the bottom of my pages, and I have the same problem with block resources.

I hope you find a solution. I've never had a problem.

Laurie I stopped using banners all together a while ago for a few reasons.

Reason # 1 is that more and more people use AdBlockers on their browsers which basically make your banners invisible. The 2nd reason is that most people learned to ignore banners. When was the last time you clicked on an actual banner ad? Well, your blog readers probably never click on them either. I prefer to use the "banner space" to link to other parts of my own site.

Alex

Thanks, Alex. I had removed all of my banners a couple months ago because of the blocked resource issue plus I was not receiving many clicks on the banners anyway. I also sometimes feel like it automatically makes my site look like an advertisement board. I keep going back and forth with the whole, should I or shouldn't I have banners on the side of my site. Thanks for your input. :)

I have never heard of this, perhaps if you could provide a screenshot of what you are seeing that will help us all out here.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm inserting the banner URL provided to me, from my affiliates, into the side menu, as a text widget. This has always been an issue for me with not being able to use any affiliate banners on my site, without causing blocked resources on Google Search Console. Which screenshot would be helpful? The actual blocked resource chart? Thanks. :)

Blocked resources? Google used that term in analysis? Or in serp?

Google Search Console lists the URLs for my affiliate banners, under the blocked resources category.

One thing I have done is take the banner image and load it on your site then use the URL where you loaded it as your image URL. It actually helps your site speed because it is loading off your site and not the Wealthy Affiliate server to your site. That has worked for me in the past

I too try to avoid using "hot linked" images on my pages.

To me, it is preferable to have the image on my own site instead of the image having to load from a different site to appear on my page.

This may make creating the affiliate link a little more difficult, but, it works for me.

Sincerely,
Tom

Thanks.

Thanks for all of the help and advice. I contacted Site Support (always excellent help), and they found and issue with my Google XML Sitemaps plugin. So, they deactivated it and installed Google Sitemap by BestWebSoft for me, but they also created a sitemap for me, so all I had to do was resubmit it to Google Search Console. Now I wait for Google to work its magic with the sitemap. :)

Thanks for this info.

If you have two plugins doing the same job they sometimes trip over each others feet.

Thanks, Marion. I only had one plugin, Google XML Sitemaps.

All in One SEO can also create sitemaps.

did you copy the error message drop in into a google search and ask for a fix?

I copied the error message and sent ti Site Support.

hope that helped you

Hey Laurie,

Google search the EXACT error message you are seeing and view through the different posts to see if someone has shared a resolve that will work for you.

Thanks.

I would contact Site Support, they have helped me out with different issues.

Thanks, Patsy. :)

You are welcome, I always blog about experiences I've had that help others out. We learn as we go along :)

That is an excellent idea. I'm sure that there are others that have had the same issue or might have in the future. Thanks again.

Complex question I join the discussion to see the solution!

Have a nice day,

Attila

I advice also the same thing as Patsy because she is verry competent. And if she don't knows...

Attila

Thanks, Attila! I've just sent Site Support a message. I will keep you posted on what happens.

Thanks a lot !
