My WA journey and whether you can teach this dog new tricks?

WHY I AM ON THIS JOURNEY.....

Well I am certainly on a journey or a leap into the unknown but so far so GOOD! Last April, I gave up my career of over 30 years as an accountant in property because I wanted new challenges and a better quality of life. Don't get me wrong I like work and the challenges it brings but working for others became less fulfilling and I wanted to decide how, where and when I wanted to work. A laptop career seemed appealing and I really wanted to learn something new and different. I was also intrigued by everyone caught up with social media and online business. In my day to day work anything to do with computers or marketing had to be dealt with by the IT or marketing teams so I felt I had missed out on the knowledge of how these medias work and had limited my own skills.

BRING ON WA

At first, I tried to learn by researching online but this was impossible without guidance and mentoring. I knew that if I didnt get some help that I would give up and my confidence would be low. A feeling of failure is hard to overcome. Then I found Wealthy Affiliate and in truth, it was liberating. Step by step, I progressed going through the lessons - some were easy and others were really not! So many times I felt like giving up but there was always someone on WA who said something that made me try again.

Some of the lessons, I will be honest, I do 3 or 4 times to get it right. My website is far from perfect. I always check in for Jay's online teaching and sometimes fall asleep before I listen and join in (it runs live at 1 a.m. in the UK) but I always try to get the repeat. Sometimes I understand his webinar and sometimes I don't get it and make a note to return when I do get to know more and understand social media or skills better - it will come. (Note for Jay - I listen to your every word).

MY NEW ROLES.ssSS

My business is just beginning, I am wearing many hats i.e. CEO, Head of IT, Marketing and Sales director. I am hoping to be the FInance director when the money rolls in (laughing out loud) but with WA I feel I have a great team of advisors helping every step of the way. WOW I have a new business. I have frustrations due to my lack of understanding but other times euphoric at some of my achievements. The emotional highs and lows are all part of the journey and that would probably be the same in any new business or learning any new skills.

WA - THE COMMUNITY AND ME

I have joined a great community where everyone wants me to do well. We dont do office politics. It is friendly and often fun. I look forward to seeing people's comments and the next lesson to learn. Any additional blogs and the weekly webinars adds to my experience.

My advise would be to anyone new, keep going with all you are doing, you will be successful, share your problems, someone will always help and great things will happen.

So WA community "Can you teach an old dog new tricks?" YES YOU HAVE!
