Meeting Michelle and Loes

In April 2018, Michael and I had a glorious holiday in the Netherlands. During those 14 days, we met 2 lovely ladies I had contact with on our platform. First, we visited Michelle in Antwerpen/Belgium. Days later, having reached the province of Friesland up north, we met Loes and Willem.

Here you can read about that trip.

The effect of world happenings

In 2019 we had planned to visit the U.S. but the stock market was not favorable, so we had to skip that trip. Then 2020 arrived, and we were making some alternative plans. That materialized neither because of lockdown and travel restrictions.

We should not complain as living on the farm we have place enough to stretch our legs and there is always enough to do. We enjoyed a beautiful spring and then the summer arrived. Spain had no summer season to speak of as most of the tourists stayed away, restricted by the laws of their own countries. Tourism is very important for Spain and it will take a long time to recover from this crisis.

Lenka, Max, and myself in the pergola

I had been in contact with Lenka from the Check Republic. She told me they always make a trip to Spain somewhere in May. As she would be on the other side of Malaga in Nerja, I told her to come and visit. Sadly, they had to cancel their trip as restrictions were getting more severe.

Still, Max and Lenka did not give up, so they came in September. They arrived in our place on the 15th and stayed overnight to start their homebound trip the following day.

Meeting Max and Lenka

They arrived on Tuesday a little after 11.00 o'clock. A nice young couple. After bringing their luggage to the guest bedroom, we took them for a coffee and showed them the village of Alhaurin de la Torre. Then we went inland and drove a few miles so they could see Lauro Golf and the marvellous view of Malaga coming down again from the mountain.

In the evening Michael put on the grill in the patio and we had an enjoyable meal with figs from the garden and ice cream as dessert. We were happily chatting away about this and that, and for us, it was a welcome break after all these rather monotonous months. We told Max and Lenka if they come to Spain again they should visit us for some more days. Then we will be able to show them some nice places on this side of Malaga like Mijas and Ronda.

Having dinner in the pergola

That is the extra enjoyable part of Wealthy Affiliate. We make new friendships with people you otherwise would not meet.

Good Evening, Taetske,

Thanks for sending me the link to this post.

I'm delighted for you and Lenka that you were able to spend time together, even though it was short. I'm sure Michael enjoyed the visit from Lenka and her friend as much as you did.

Your garden is so beautiful, with lovely areas to sit and relax.

WA certainly is a great place for meeting people virtually who have the same or similar interests, and building friendships.

But, to meet those friends in person would be very special.

With best wishes.

Good Morning Valerie,

So nice to see you and thank you for your comment.

In my soon to be 4 years at WA I have met wonderful people and enjoy this virtual contact. But nothing can beat to meet in real life. Even if perhaps it is only once in your life the fond memories will stay forever.

I think I told you a long time ago that Michael had wanted to visit NZ with me. He spent a lovely 14 days there and enjoys his fond memories from that trip. As the world is upside down and one does not know what the outcome will be of this mess, we sadly had to cancel that trip. Anyhow, if one day we make it, you are on my to visit list.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

p.s. the other way around would also be nice, you are very welcome.

Good Afternoon Taetske,

Thanks for your lovely message.

It's true that nothing can beat meeting friends in real life. It is sad that you and Michael had to cancel your trip to NZ.

To visit you in Spain would be wonderful. Sadly, it won't happen for me as my health would not stand up to travelling overseas. It's a huge effort to travel by plane within NZ. I actually haven't done that since 2016.

Thanks very much Taetske for your invitation. I know it would be a wonderful experience to visit you, Michael and your beautiful garden.

Sending warm wishes.

Dear Taetske,
there's not much more to say as it was all said in my post and even more in your beautiful description of our meeting. I wish we were still there.
Your pictures are much better than mine :) I'm so happy we can keep these moments in our memories and hope to see you and Michael again next year.
Hugs,

That was a lovely post, how wonderful for you all. I had serious Spain envy.
I read Lenka’s post yesterday where she was saying how wonderfully hospitable you both were and how grateful she was to have found the wonderful WA community.

They were equally lovely to read... 👍❤️😁

Good afternoon, Cordelia,

We can all do with some positivity these days. There is too much sad and awful news floating around.
I do not remember, I must confess, have you lived in Spain and if yes, where?
In coming January I will be a member for 4 years. I am equally grateful I discovered WealthyAffiliate; it has changed my life in quite a few ways

Your memory is perfectly sound. 🤗 whilst I never lived in Southern Spain we used to own a villa in Costa Blanca just north of Torrevieja. visited throughout much of 1998-2004. Sadly husband and I separated and he then lived there full time for another 5 years so I never went back....😢

It was a beautiful location.

You are so right about being grateful and positive I too have a lot to be thankful for. I always like reading your posts they make me feel very happy and positive... 👏❤️

Thank you Cordelia for your kind words.

When times are difficult it helps to think about what we should be grateful for. You seem to be in a good place now.

All the best, Taetske
