Adding widgets

I want to add a button to my pages but if I add it as a text widget it comes up with a background and it looks like it was pasted on by a kindergartner in art class. I was wondering if I could add it in the editor somewhere. any ideas?

Hi Darrin - which button is it? Is it the Shop Now button?

Can you paste here what you're pasting into the widget?

All the best, Mark

yes it is I'm just pasting the short code [maxbutton id="1"] from a plugin called max buttons and pasting it into a text widget. I will probably just have to add it into every page just hoping I could just use it as a widget

Hi Darrin - I think possibly the text widget has some CSS in the "style.css" file - that may be forcing the background to be like that for all widgets, so that it stands out.

What I'd suggest, if you can live with it being in a box (and without editing the css files) is change what's in your widget to include line breaks, ie:

[maxbutton id="1"]

That may be enough to force the underlying box to appear around your button - rather than the way it does just now. If not, just add more
tags.

I hope this helps?

All the best, Mark

I'll try that. How much damage could I do changeing the css file

Hi - it could change the way your site looks.

What I'd recommend is copying the whole style.css text - and pasting into notepad on your local computer. Then if some change does have the wrong effect, then you can always copy the original text back into the editor, from your copy in notepad.

All the best, Mark

Thanks Mark I used the page breaks and it looks better but I still don't like it. I might try the dhanging the css code later when I have more time but I'm gonna leave it for now. Need to get more content and some page rankings now. Thanks again for your help.
