Kyle Made Me Do It!

This is a follow-up of my post that I published earlier this week on Google's latest video model, Veo3. I spent about 15 minutes putting together a few videos, to exhibit just how good it is getting compared to the past models.

And I want to re-iterate, this is the "worst" AI video will ever be...it is only going to get a lot better.

But seriously, did Kyle make them do it?

Hello Kyle,

As reaction to this beautiful piece of art I had to find out how you did that and if I could produce something like this, but in the cheaper version of VEO 3, please go to my post and see for yourself: Please tell me how I can show the video here, like you did Kyle!

Have a great day
Farid

I caught that, nice work!

Wow - what's going to happen to the film industry once this takes off ? No wonder they are worried! They look really real (well, as real as a Yeti can be!). Was this using the paid version? From what I can see, the video creation market is a bit too pricey for the average Joe at the moment - certainly is for me, but maybe it will come down in price once the competition kicks in.

6

Yeah, they have to be worried. Youtubers and people on Social Media are creating very significant social accounts, with characters like this..and naturally these 8 second clips are how storylines and even movies are created.

It's not perfect yet, but last year at this time video of this quality wasn't close to possible. Next year at this time, this video is going to feel like it is "low quality".

And yeah, the video quality will go up, and the price will come down.

It is amazing how AI is getting so hard to tell fact from fiction. It is becoming a problem according to what I am hearing. I heard someone say the other day there is talk about a law being discussed about AI being regulated due to a potential suicide of a teen due to an AI post about someone they thought was true. Has anyone else heard about this?

4

Yeah, it is going to become a problem, but even real video people can produce "false" worlds, so I am not sure the fact of how the video was created will dictate the legitimacy of it in many cases. There are lots of examples though where we need to be very careful about this.

You know as we move forward in this AI world, which I think when used as it was intended, is a wonderful tool, will you be able to trust video evidence of a crime? Could it be AI generated evidence that is false? Makes you stop and think doesn't it?

That’s so good. I was chatting with my kids about AI videos yesterday because they’re also seeing more and more of them on social media. The conversation was around how soon it will be hard to tell fact from fiction, especially for older people who aren’t familiar with AI videos. And whilst the technology is amazing, how this evolves could also be quite concerning. It’s an interesting conversation. I’m guessing the law needs to catch up here about AI impersonation and a host of other things. Fascinating times.

Yeah, more and more are coming. There at some point will be no differentiation between what is real and what is not, and this is already very close. There are going to have to be some controls, but just as an example I have seen some Iran/Israel war footage, that people cannot differentiate and people are assuming it's AI, or not.

Law may not be able to catch up, unless it is AI law at this point. Case law is slow, and takes years to establish, so these are definitely going to be interesting times. What we don't want to do is ignore the fact that we are all suddenly becoming more powerful as creators than we have in the past, and the idea of "AGI" is that anything we can imagine, we can bring to life....for good or bad.
