Beer with Kyle Fridays: The AI Slop Curve and a Secret Project in the Works

Happy Friday Everyone!
It is a beautiful spring day here in Victoria, British Columbia. Around 20 Celsius, which is about 72 Fahrenheit, flowers blooming, and exactly the kind of day that calls for a cold one (Corona weather).

Today I want to talk about a concept I blogged about recently called the AI Slop Curve, and I also want to pull back the curtain just a little on a secret project Carson and I have been working on behind the scenes.

This Week's Beer

Today I am going with a Corona Extra. I know I have done Corona before, but on a day like today it just felt right. Classic Mexican beer, super easy drinking, and a perfect match for the weather.

Where We Are In the AI Journey.

If you have been using AI for a while, you probably already know this... the more you use it, the more you discover what it is actually capable of. You start with something basic. Maybe you write a silly poem or summarize an email. Then through time you start layering in your own knowledge, your creativity, and your expertise, and suddenly you are solving problems and building things you never could have imagined.

That is the real unlock. But not everyone is there yet, and that is what the AI Slop Curve post is all about.

Act One: The Experts Warn

When the first version of ChatGPT dropped, it felt like the biggest breakthrough ever. Looking back now, that version was pretty rudimentary compared to what we have today. The problem is that a huge chunk of people tried it once, wrote a poem, summarized an email, and moved on. In their mind, that is still the state AI is in.

Anyone actually using it today knows it is a hundred times better than that, a hundred times more capable, and it can make you a hundred times more capable. But right now you have about 95% of people who really do not grasp where this has gone, and about 5% using it at a very high level.

Act Two: The Slop Floods In

This is the stage we are sitting in right now. People are discovering the newer versions, copying and pasting content, mass building things, and generally underutilizing the tool or using it in an unskilled way. They are basically trying to build a house with the hammer turned backwards.

The more skilled you are with the tool, the better the output is going to be. Same as building a house. Use your tools correctly and you build something beautiful. Use them incorrectly and the whole thing collapses on you. That is why you are seeing so much low quality content out there right now. There are too many models, too much noise, and not enough skill behind the prompts.

Act Three: The Crafts Recover

This is where things get really exciting. By the end of this year, I believe we are going to start seeing every craft and every skill recover and then surpass what it used to be. Accountants, real estate agents, digital designers, photographers, software developers, writers... if you are capable, you are going to be extra capable. You are probably already operating at a multiple of what you used to, but as a whole, AI is going to lift every craft and every faction of what we do as human beings.

Act Four: The New Highs

Moving into 2027, I think we are going to see the best things we have ever seen built. The quality is going to be unreal. The creativity is going to be unreal. And the people who have been building their skills through act two and act three are going to be the ones leading the charge.

The Secret Project!

Carson and I have started building something new, and it lives in a category very related to Wealthy Affiliate but completely separate. It will not impact WA at all. In fact, WA is getting better than it has ever been with the infrastructure rebuild we have been working on.

What I will say is this... we have grown a really keen interest in the visual space. Images, video, creativity, and what that can look like in the new AI world. There is something beautiful about being able to take an idea and turn it into a visual in seconds, then iterate, improve, and pull inspiration from other ideas to build something new. That is a big part of why Image Studio has become such a popular platform at WA, and I am sure it always will be. But on a broader scale, this creative element is where a lot of our energy is going.

I am being pretty cryptic on purpose, but I wanted to let you in on where our heads are at. This is a new product built from the ground up, and it will run in parallel to Wealthy Affiliate. We now have the capacity to do more than ever and we are moving faster than ever by a significant multiple.

This project is also going to present new revenue opportunities for you, which is something we are really excited about.

We are in the messy middle of the AI wave right now. Lots of slop, lots of noise, lots of people using the tools poorly. But the people who stick with it, who build their skill, and who keep pushing their craft forward are the ones who are going to thrive as we move into the next act.
