Are You Stuck? Getting Good Advice? (or not?)
With each post made on WA, what type of responses do you find uplift your day? When you pour your heart out in a blog post or a training, what is it you're seeking?
Thinking about this today as I responded to another post, I realized that each one of us is very vulnerable when we put our ideas out there. Not vulnerable in a 'scary' way, but just in terms of receiving rejection, no response at all (the worst), or nothing much in terms of good quality response that moves the idea forward. Yes, we all need to hear compliments. But what kind of commenter are you?
I ask this question because when I decide to respond to someone's post on WA, and elsewhere on the net, ideas often spring forward that may help to fill in the blank where they may be stuck. If I am too busy to take time to write back, what a dis-service I have done - to the poster, and to myself.
Creativity flows at the least opportune times. When I most need creativity -- when I'm tired; when I feel overwhelmed; when indecision in reigning upon me; or if I feel like stopping for the day -- I go out there and find someone who needs my help. And then, I instead of the usual cordial response like: great job! or Keep up the good work! I really take the time to go look at their stuff (read their new article, look at their fan page, review their site) and give some concrete suggestions. Then, like magic, I am the recipient of the good fortune called clarity, energy, drive, and yes -- newfound creativity! Sometimes I have poured out a page or two of information for folks that may be just the ticket they needed to hear that day. And they feel better that someone cares enough to take that time.
Isn't that what we're all doing here in the first place? Because let's face it -- what we're all missing most is community when we work from home and are building our businesses. So as you meander through your day, if you hit a brick wall of any type, go out there and find someone in need of a thoughtful response. You'll not only brighten their day but you'll receive unfound energy reserves to move yours forward as well!

It's always scary to put something out there because you never know what kind of response you will receive. That said, getting feedback whether it is positive or negative is very powerful.
Once you get over the fear of asking for help or feedback on your ideas, you will then begin to realize the potential that the WA community offers. Many of us work from home and use WA as our online business community. It's our virtual office where we have colleagues, and where we meet new friends who are like-minded and willing to help.
Communicating is a powerful thing and we encourage everyone at WA to take advantage of the community to bounce ideas back and forth, get feedback, and get answers to the questions you have.
I'm sure many members share your thoughts on helping one another!
Great post :)
