Info for WA Affiliates: McD's wants cashiers with BA's

I saw this article today about at least one McDonald's store posting in a job ad that they want cashiers with college degrees. Scary, scary, scary! Four, or more, years of education only to be minimum wage workers at McD's. And it's not like the cashiers even need to be able to count money; the cash registers do it for them.

Yet, it is still an opportunity if WA affiliates can reach out and find these poor college grads.

Got time to lean you got time to clean...... NOT

Hope the college kids are smart enough to thumb their noses at that.

Wow, thanks for the comments and clearing that misconception up. That "computer" error does make sense, although the real statistics are still terrifying. Our economy needs some major restructuring soon, as in day before yesterday. I hope the internet will provide at least some oasis of prosperity in the crazy years ahead.

Yes, things are currently going to pieces. There will always be employment but to what extent remains to be seen. The time is now to change income and be less dependent on what everybody else is. I think in time, you WILL be seeing companies getting more finicky on who gets hired. College degrees are getting less and less valuable for some things.

KWest. Quite an interesting article. Had a hard time believing your title so I followed through and read your blog. Quite interesting.

@Daniel I agree with you wholeheartedly, today people can write anything they want to online and you have to be very careful of where their information is coming from. Case in point my recent articles in SA on Sarnia. I thought that my resources were top of the line, however I noticed a huge discrepancy of fact in none other than Wikipedia.

Wikipedia stated that Alexander Mackenzie, the second Prime Minister of Canada, was the founder of the Sarnia Observer, which was another of the sources for my research. This fact however was far from the truth. He did however found a newspaper called the Lambton Shield which failed to survive for any great length of time. This error made me realize that the truth often overlooked to make a better sounding story.

One must be careful with the mass media on this point too. Though they are more reliable on many things, they still clip and cut to make their stories sound as sensational as possible.

There's some truth to the story featured above, however, not all the facts about it were brought up and this is where it gets dangerous. I used to believe in the trilateral conspiracy, the Counsel on Foreign Relations, etc, but nothing ever came of it. I was warned by a journalist that what I was getting into and wasting my time with was all a farce.

This is why the Internet can be a hall of smoke and mirrors, all of the news for that matter.

This is sensational. It has hit the national news. (more on that below) It's getting all over the Internet like wildfire. It makes a lot of sense (considering how sick the world is getting) but unfortunately, it's misinformation...

Be careful with Natural News. Very often I look into things they purport and it turns out false many times. They don't give you all the facts. I'm going to supply that right now.

There was an advert put out which had errors in it regarding this. The original document created by the franchise did not have this nor was it intended. The error was committed by the job bank agency that issued the advert. It is no longer online.

Read this article from ABC News...

I don't put much stock in Natural News nor its "sources" many of which are there to stir up trouble and provide misinformation. I used to be a reader of Natural News and took in a LOT of rubbish from this outfit. They take facts and twist them around, turning them into illusion meant to create bad publicity for entities they disagree with. Much of what they say should be taken with a grain of salt because of the omission of facts to downright propaganda they put out. Notice many of the sources they derive their stories come from other dubious, biased, professional-looking information outlets.

Not saying the national media isn't much better, but in this case, I believe they are telling the truth (i.e. ABC News and others that have carried this story.)

This doesn't detract from the fact that:

1. 284,000 college graduates are in minimum wage jobs as of 2012. This is probably about the same today.

2. 37,000 holders of advanced degrees in 2012.

3. 327,000 advanced degrees in 2010 (we've come down from this number)

4. Albeit 70% higher in 2012 than it was in 2007.

These numbers are still pretty scary. These come from the Wall Street Journal.

As for the McDonalds adverts though. I bring you the rest of the story.
