Why do we suffer?

THE "PROBLEM"

Why do you think people suffer? Is it because they have too much PAIN in their lives? Is it because GOD decided to make their life hard specifically? We all know that, that’s not the case. Then what causes people to mess things up in their own MINDS? What are the reasons behind their (or your) FRUSTRATION? When we look at this problem from a socio-cultural point of view, then there are two main reasons behind that:

First one is DENIAL and The other Is VICTIMIZATION.

THE REASONS & THE EFFECTS:

1) Denial is distracting oneself from the truth in order to deny the responsibility which may fall upon the individual IF he/she decides to own up to their decisions and their outcomes, whatever it may be. Denying the presence of problems and difficulties only leads to the growth of insecurities, and lowering of self-confidence. It doesn’t allow you to live freely, because no matter where you run, the problem is still there, right in front of you. You can "avoid" them for some time, but you cannot prevent them from happening or Re-Occuring. So now you would think that if denying problems is that bad, then why do so many people still do that. Well the answer is quite simple, for short term pleasure or ‘relief’, or more technically- for a quick high.

2) Victimization isn’t much Different either. Since the ultimate goal is temporarily escaping the problems in order to feel better in short term, there are plenty of ways to do that, except here it is done either by blaming other people/circumstances for the problems. OR by believing that there is just nothing we can do to solve them, hence playing the victim. But as I said, the problems are still going be there, they will only accumulate up to the point where one actually cannot solve them. This is what give rise to despair & Frustration.

The more you rely upon these methods, the more you seek them out. The more you seek them out, the more you run away from the problems. And the more you run away, the more painful it will be to finally confront them, because no matter what: YOU WILL HAVE TO CONFRONT THEM at some point. Its a feedback loop, from hell.

The society today treats itself in such an over-protective way, that we lose the benefits of experiencing some healthy doses of pain. A slight bit of “Discomfort” is seen as something so damn dangerous and apocalyptic, that we tend to doubt our existence and all the decisions we made so far. Suddenly, everything around us seem pointless and worthless. And in the effect of that, we immediately start looking for instant "cures" and "remedies" like Lying, manipulating, blaming etc etc. the list goes on. And it DOES NOT end up well, and I am sure that if you are still here, than you have experienced this at some point in your life, or may be doing it right now.

THE SOLUTION

You see, one of the very few things that are actually constant in this forever changing world and time, are problems. They are a Constant in life, they never stop, NEVER. They are merely exchanged or upgraded. Think about it, when you try to solve your health problem by buying a gym membership, you create new problems, like having to get up early to get to the gym on time, sweating like a meth head for thirty minutes, making sacrifices while choosing healthy food, avoiding late night parties and movies to get up early, Here is another one- Solving financial problem by affiliate marketing, in exchange of putting in the hours to build a website or a community. I can go on and on but you get the point.

Life is essentially an endless series of problems. The solution to one problem is merely the creation of the next one. The pain we feel now isn’t necessarily “BAD”, it’s an agent to inspire CHANGE, like stubbing our toe in the table corner teaches us to walk into fewer tables, the emotional pain of rejection or failure teaches us how to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

So, I hope this blog helped you gain some spiritual strength to pursue and strive through whatever you are pursuing right now. And next time you are confronted with a problem, face it head on, you cannot imagine the amount of hidden resources you will discover inside you which stayed dormant for so long.

All the best, and feel free to contact me if you need any help.

Kunal, carrying on our conversation from "I am Always "Happy" to here, I have found our choice of words and the meaning/feeling we put behind them can make a big difference for people.

The word problem or problems often has a negative feeling behind it.

"I don't know what to do, I have so many problems in my life" as an example.

Personally, I don't have any problems, but I do have challenges and I see challenges as a positive thing to help me grow. No negative feelings for me at all.

Have a great day!

Mel

We are all born victims, we carry it our ancestral DNA. The trick is to be aware of it and overcome it's limitations

Yeah exactly, the pain is inevitable, the point is to chose the one worth suffering for.

It sure did, Kunal! Thank you very much, my friend!

Jeff
