Back to School Time - Positive or Negative Change?

When I scroll through my Facebook feed, I see that some parts of the US have started school for the fall and other areas have not yet.

In the city where I live, school starts on August 22 but my boyfriend's son (who is staying with us right now) lives 3 hours away and does not start school until September 5. On August 22, my granddaughter will attend a half day of school -- but my grandson who is starting kindergarten will only attend one day that week and will start fulltime on the 28th.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the start of this school year. I am excited to see my grandson start kindergarten, but I have been watching him 3 days a week since he was 6 months old and I am sad that my one-on-one time with him is ending! Yes, he has been in preschool the past 2 years, but that was just for 3 hours each day.

But I am also excited because it means more time to work on my website and to write -- I will have my days free until the children get out of school at 3 pm. I have a number of trainings bookmarked that I want to take the time to go through as well as a list of topics for my blog.

I am also looking forward to getting some thorough cleaning and organizing done at my house -- as well as being available for my boyfriend when he needs my assistance with various items. And I will have more flexibility to go and visit my son!

Does the start of the school year impact you? Are you excited, sad or filled with mixed emotions? I would love to hear how it impacts you!

As a former teacher I too had mixed feelings with the start of a new ear. DIdn't like that summer was over, but looked forward to my new classes with all those cute as a button 1st graders. Nothing like seeing the excitement of little ones and feeling their enthusiasm for learning. Loved teaching these thirsty young creatures!

I have always had a strong admiration for teachers -- they are such a role model and strong influence on our children!

good post

Thank you!

I'm still a kid at heart. I hate the start of school. But when I look back it was an exciting time as well. The new teacher(s) new subjects and just the overall smell of the school. It has no impact on my anymore except to remind me that time is moving faster than I want it to.

Yes, time definitely moves faster than I want it to as well! Funny how when we are younger we cannot wait for time to go by -- now I wish it would just stand still for a little while!

Hi Kristin,
my wife run a licensed in home daycare and has for some 30 years. School here starts Sept 6th. She also has mixed feelings about school starting. Most of her kids have been with her for a long time. The young ones that start school this year started with here when they didn't go to school so for her its like being a Mom again and sending her kids to school for the first time. Of course with this is the new season and new kids starting at a young age where they will spend a couple of years with her again, before starting school. It's a repeating cycle, full of emotions.
Like everything else in life, things change as we move along. "It's all part of the fun", right!

Yes, it certainly is! Thank you!

Kids going to school will not impact me

So same old routine, huh? Nothing wrong with that either!

Not really. My youngest is in high school, so she is pretty much on her own. Other than her not being here during the day not much changes.

That is a big advantage -- having the kids old enough where they are fairly self-sufficient! After all, that is a sign that you have done your job as a parent!

It definitely makes a change in my life, I homeschool my children. My youngest is starting first grade, and I have 3 others in schooI; I start the first week of September. I was hoping to be further along in my training here by then, but I'll just have to keep plodding along.

Kudos to you for being able to homeschool and make it work! The good thing is that the training is there for when you have time -- yet you also can take the time to do what you need to do with the kids!

I have mixed emotions about this. My granddaughter starts 'real' school as she calls it this year, kindergarten was last year. My son is principle at one of our local schools. I am going to miss my free time with them. I wish it were still a month, or two, down the road!! :((

I feel that way a bit as well! But I am also excited to really be able to block out time to work here at WA as well!

Positive. Hopefully, when school comes, I'll be able to plan my vacation.

Hmmm --- taking off without any kiddos? LOL That is the way to do it!

I have no kids.

That definitely makes it easier! LOL

I hope and pray that I get my money this week. I only have $25 to my name til payday.

We are in a similar situation here -- having a 7-year-old for 5 weeks straight has taught us a lot about budget adjustments!

I made this budget plan for myself so I can have money on payday. I want to afford to pay my rent.

A great time for affiliate marketing!

I am hoping so! I have completed the Certification Training -- hoping to start and concentrate on the Bootcamp once my schedule has more "me" time!
