My Vacation in Bucerias Nayarit
My Vacation in Bucerias Nayarit Mexico
Every year my sister Kim and our friend Shari take a girls trip to Mexico. We always stay in Bucerias Nayarit, we love this little town and all it has to offer. This year we decided to
extend our trip and have been here for almost three weeks. We will have to return to reality next week, but for now it is still sandy beaches, sunshine and margaritas.
We love this little town for may reasons but first and foremost are the amazing locals. I have never met such friendly happy people. Everyone greets you as you walk down the street, they are more than happy to help you if you need something and the customer service in the restaurants is unbelievable.
This is not a big tourist town, I like that about it. You see a few people here on vacation but most of them live here at least part-time. There are no big resorts and it's a very authentic Mexican town. I feel if I wanted to go to a resort I could do that anywhere in the US. I like coming here to learn about the locals and the culture. We have visited a couple nearby towns but they were a little to touristy for me, that's why we stay here and visit those towns.
We spent two of our days in Puerto Vallarta. We always visit there at least once while we are here. The beaches are beautiful and there are lots of places to shop. We hiked up to Casa Kimberly and it was beautiful. Back in the 1950"s Elizabeth Taylor filmed a movie called Night of the Iguana. She fell in love with the city and bought herself a house. Her on again off again husband Richard Burton purchased the house across the street. They built a bridge over the street connecting the two houses. I thought that was an interesting piece of history.
We also visited Yelapa, a small island town that you can only get to by boat. We spent the day snorkeling and laying in the sun.
We have a friend who lives in a small town north of Bucerias named San Poncho. We took a bus there and visited with Jane and she showed us around her town. We went and visited Turtle Frank, he has been doing turtle rescue in San Poncho for 25 years. You can read all about their program on their Facebook page.
The weather here is perfect (for me at least) in October - January. It has been in the mid 80's to low 90's every day, it did rain one night while we were sleeping. The condo we stay at has a pool and is right on the beach. The ocean water is as warm as bath water. We love to spend our evening floating in the ocean on our boogie boards watching the sunset.
The food and margaritas are amazing. Once you have had Mexican food in Mexico it's really hard to find good Mexican food back home, I hardly every go out for Mexican food at home anymore.
Well the pool is calling me, I will be back at it next week. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you

This is beautiful Krys A good piece of travel writing. Across the Gulf of California from Baja and north of Acapulco, Nayarit is a lesser known Pacific paradise!
I love it in Nayarit
