4 Time Management Tips

People always say that they never have time to do anything. In life, you’ll never have time so you’ll have to make the time to do it. Only you choose to make things in your life a priority.

In order to be successful, you need to be able to manage your time effectively. Here’s a list to help keep your day organized:

1. Make Lists Each Day – This is the most important lesson to learn in time management. Keeping a list will double your productivity right away. It is great to have goals and dreams but you won’t come close to achieving them if you don’t write it down. Start with a list of your top 4 things that you want to accomplish for the day and stick to it.

2. Plan How Much Time You Will Allocate To Each Task – This is critical especially when you have big projects that seem so overwhelming. They can consume a lot of your time but you can break down the huge task into smaller ones to help relieve this stress. For example, just spend 1 hour each day putting more time into that project and eventually you will complete it once and for all.

3. Make People Respect Your Time – Saying NO is a must! People will only go as far as you allow them to go. Of course there will be emergencies in life but not every little thing needs attention right away. Sometimes you must say “No, I’m not available right now.” Schedule a time to meet with that person to talk about their issue or whatever situation they got going on.

4. Schedule Time For Checking Emails and Interruptions – It may be tempting to check an email every time that message pops up but you must have the discipline to not check it at that moment. Include some flexibility in your schedule to check on those miscellaneous things so you don’t feel like you are missing out. After you handle your emails and other miscellaneous items then it is back to work!

NOTE: If you are able to delegate tasks to people, please do so. People love to feel needed so give them something to do.

I tend to spend longer hours on certain activities than I actually should, eating up the time I should spend for other things. I need to learn how to manage my time better.
