Fixed mindsets.

People with a fixed mindset believe talents, intelligence, and abilities are set in stone, fixed, what you were born with…. In other words you are born destine to be or do some specific thing.

If you think about it, fixed income, fixed budget, fixed rates, all relate to predetermined, inflexible, and unable to change. Just like the fixed mindset.

Can you think of a time when you felt like this?

What were your thoughts?

How did you respond to the situation?

For me, I thought I was a nobody destine to couch surf and work odd jobs to survive forever. High school drop out in 9th grade. I lived like this for fifteen years with a GED and worked several jobs at once.

Then something happened, my mindset shifted. I went to college and decided if nothing else I would graduate a bachelors program. Then I did, went on to graduate an MBA with a 4.0!

The only thing that changed for me, mindset. My mom suddenly believed in me and then I started believing in me. That was all it took, I believed in myself.

Now you may be wondering how does one go from a couch surfer to an Entrepreneur with an MBA?

Can you change?

Well that is up to you!

Growth mindset

A growth mindset has been proven through the research of Carol Dweck, her theory states people who believe hard work and success from growth through failures are what define your talents, intelligence, and abilities. Most of her work resides in researching young students. Interestingly enough, she has worked with groups and major populations and found the same exists amongst adults.

Some examples of the famed old saying “Practice makes perfect” include people who failed again and again.

Michael Jordan- cut from his high school basketball team.

Steve Jobs- fired from his own company.

Henry Ford and the v8 motor developed to replaced the X-8 Motors! 1920-1925

Key individuals who display the growth mindset include

Walt Disney

“I think it’s important to have a good hard failure when your young, because it makes you kind of aware of what can happen to you. Because of it I’ve never had any fear in my whole life when we’ve been near collapse and all of that I’ve never been afraid”

Richard Branson

Founded a spaceship company! Dyslexic 1st business didn’t make a dime, but he learned from his mistakes.

Melanie Perkins Youngest female CEO and millionaire pitched her idea to over 100 investors and was denied 100 times for seed money to upstart Canva. “if you are determined and want it you can just go for it”

Dr. Seuss was rejected by 27 different publishers!

What mindset are you in?

What do you believe?

Be real with yourself!

Will you decide today you want to upgrade your mindset?

You have the power to decide to change, its up to you to rewire your thought process and your thinking abilities.

A very inspirational read Kristen, having a positive attitude and never give up mindset is essential to success in all aspects of life my friend!

Very well done, Kristen! I like your style! The best I ever did was five business degrees from Kansas State University, but the US Army paid for those!

Keep succeeding!
