Here a suggestion. Go to the page where you edit your post. On the right corner at the bottom of the page there is a section to add a picture. Add a picture there . Then this pic will show beside your writing on your front page.

Note : Every time you want to improve something on your blog write it in the white help box at the top of this page then you will get a list of many short tutorials.

I think you are missing an "m" at the end of your link as the one you provided doesn't work.

Anyway your site looks pretty good so far. In order to make it more eye-catching I suggest you add blog title graphics and a site logo instead of just text. I wrote a post about it last week: Logo and Graphics Creation - Who Do You Use? It will definitely make your site look better and professional.

I like minimal themes better, with a pop of color in the images used in the posts itself. You do need to have a custom logo for your site, I;m sure a lot of freelancers would love to be hired by you. Or there are actually free logo creation websites out there. Take your pick :)
