Well considering your site is still in its early stages, you should not waste too much time worrying about backlinks, but instead you need to keep pumping out great content. Backlinks tend to come automatically a lot of the time anyway, when you comment on someones post, when someone shares your post and later when you develop good relationships you may get mentioned in other peoples content.

You do NOT need backlinks. Not only has Google limited their value to almost null, they can actually adversely impact your rankings. Backlinks are completely gameable and can be manufacture. People were abusing them, Google caught on, and things have never been the same since.
I put ZERO focus on back-links, the focus you put should be on the content and the engagement you get within your quality content. This is what will lead to rankings. If you produce quality, Google will find you and rank your site well.
