Avoid Negativity Like the Plague it is!
[Update to this post: I have added some content to this post and want to establish it as being the first in a series of posts I'll be writing soon which are all connected, and will reveal some very valuable resources when I'm done. I'm doing this with absolutely no personal gain other than the joy of sharing with the WA community how these resources are helping me, and how I believe they can help anyone who utilizes them. These resources are, in fact; where the inspiration for these articles evolved from, and I believe they will be of immeasurable value to all who use them as intended.]
Hello WA community,
I am a reader, because I learned long ago that readers are leaders, and I wanted to share some wisdom I've found in several best-selling books which I've read, some of them several times over. The particular books I'm referring to are in the general arenas of self-help and financial literacy, etc.
The wisdom I wish to share seems to be a common theme across these books, and it is simply stressing the urgency and vital importance of completely eliminating negative influences in your life, whether they are stemming from negative thoughts, (and accompanying actions) that are being generated in your own mind, or whether it is negative influence coming from other people with whom you have frequent or regular association with.
The wisdom implied in this literature states that exposing one's self to negativity of any kind or from any source is like a cancer or deadly plague to all five elements of our human existence, those five elements being the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial elements that make up who and what we are as human beings.
One author states that avoiding negativity in all its forms is so critical, in fact, that he recommends using a simple gesture of swiping a finger across your throat, as if you were cutting your own throat, whenever you find yourself engaging in negative thinking. It is a gesture to remind one's self that any negative thoughts you allow to linger in your mind and influence your feelings and actions is like slicing your own throat in all five of those elements of our being, as mentioned above. Apply caution, however; if you try this technique when you're not alone, as it will most likely be perceived out of context by others and could cause you some serious problems! 🤣
He further stresses that eliminating the negative influence of other people in your life is equally critical and important, regardless of who those people are or where they fit into your life, (e.g., family members, friends, spouses even). These negative influences will literally kill your chances of success and well-being in all five of those elements that make up our human existence.
I have found in my own life that eliminating the negative influence of other people in my life is difficult enough to do, but eliminating the negative thoughts I generate daily on my own is the most difficult of all.
I've noticed that certain activities tend to reinforce negative thinking as well, and that if I must engage in those activities, then I must do so in a very mindful and aware state of mind to continuously monitor and immediately expel negative thoughts that enter my mind.
My own best example of an activity that I can't really eliminate entirely is when I'm driving. I absolutely despise ignorant, inconsiderate and stupid drivers! (Sorry for the bit of negativity that obviously seeped through there in my description). I have to really keep myself and my mind in check when I'm driving, (which unfortunately, I drive for a living at my day job) as I am fully aware how it can easily get me in an angry and negative mindset that, if I let it continue, will kill all my efforts to find success, peace and well-being in my life.
So, I just wanted to share this vital information for all those who, like myself, have negative influences in their lives, either from those around you, or generated from your own negative thinking, in order to stress the importance, (if you didn't already know) of eliminating these negative sources as much as possible, as they are as much a deadly plague as any other, and should be recognized and avoided as such.

Exactly.
Negativity is very destructive , whether in a familiar or friend-like relationship. It is the polar opposite of it's counterpart positivity.
Excellent post.

p.s. What books did you mention?
I like, share and Bookmark.A++
Thank you. The books are "Think & Grow Rich", by Napoleon Hill, and "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind", by T. Harv Ecker. Both best-sellers, both awesome life resources!
Marked as top!
Being not judgemental on our self, others and situations
is indeed the hardest since it feeds negative spirals of all kind...
being aware of it and getting out, the first step of the cure
Thank you for sharing
Loved every piece of it
💪✨
PS
Would F1 race suite you?
Thank you very much! I'm not sure what "F1 race" is, you'll have to assist with my ignorance. 😊
Ah, gotcha. I'm sure that any F1 race driver not only has plenty of negative thoughts going on, but also a lot of stress. Not a job I'd want, although I'd like to try driving one of those cars one time! 😁
Very interesting read there! To have a better life, negative things should be cut out of your life.

KL,
Road rage is another serious problem. I was getting onto the freeway, (highway) about 5years ago, was cut off by another intoxicated person who actually threw an open beer can at my windshield. Negativity is very thoughtless.
