New Opportunity

Well, Mike left for the new job today. I sent him off in style... homemade biscuits with eggs and bacon for breakfast, then I packed the rest of the biscuits for him to take on the road. For lunch I made lamb in a tomato sauce over garlic-parmesan mashed potatoes. I wanted it to taste like the lamb I had in Ireland because it was the best I've ever had, and I did it! Of course the whole day has been bittersweet because we knew how it would end. For some reason this trip was harder than the rest, maybe because he'll be there for a while so he took a lot of stuff and it feels little like he's moving out... it never gets easy but I thought I'd gotten used to it.

So instead of becoming a house cleaning maniac like I normally do when he goes, I uploaded the Spanish version of the Bo-Bo book. It even sounds fun when you say it - Sr. Bo-Bo y los Waggy-Colas! (did you shake your butt a little when you said it? you did, didn't you?) Still waiting on the English print version's cover to be approved by Amazon so I can order a proof and get that going, and I have a little work to do on the second book before I start the process all over again (but I have learned a lot and it will be easier this time around!).

People here at WA have been so incredibly kind... I want to say thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and gone above and beyond for me lately. I love it here and hope I will be able to stay for a long time to come. It seems that a great majority of people here are going through hard times and I'm no different, but I have a positive feeling and I think things are starting to turn around. I hope I have been able to pay it forward with some of you and will continue to try and do so whenever I can.

In that vein, Ive had the opportunity to collaborate with a few WA'ers in various ways. One of the most recent is with Sandra (tmmom). I will be linking up with her site to share the story of how she adopted her Tibetan Mastiffs and it will introduce a new page on my site called Adoption Stories. If anyone else has an adoption story they want to share -- I know there are a lot of dog people here -- you can either send me the story to publish on the AS page, or if you put it on your website I can link to it when once I add it to the AS page. So it's a potential backlink opportunity for you, or just an opportunity to talk about your dog. :)

I'll let you know when Sandra's link goes live so you can check it out. Her adoption story is a great story.

sounds good keep up the good work AM

And I want your lamb recipe!

It's easy... I used lamb loin which look like tiny t-bones. Sear them, add a sliced onion, three cloves of garlic, two cans of diced tomatoes, about 2 cups of red wine, I used about 2 tbsp of Better than Boullion and two tomato cans worth of water, tasted it later and added more BTB until it tasted like I wanted. Add salt and pepper to taste. Bring it to a boil then simmer for about an hour or two with a lid on, then take the lid off and let it boil down to a sauce consistency. Voila. Lamb. :)

Hi Kristy, I adopted a pug rescue in July, would love to share my story.

Cool, you can send it to kristy@mrbobobook.com and once I launch the page I'll start posting them

Hey ... no cats? Doesn't every good dog need a cat friend? We have a big cat named Jo Jo ... he was adopted ... first by my daughter ... and then when our old cat died ... our 5 year old grandson gave us Jo Jo, which was his cat, so that Amma and Appa didn't have to be lonely. It was sweet and generous of him ... plus he gets to play with him every time he comes over! M

I used to be a cat person. I had the best cat in the world, absolutely gorgeous inside and out, we went through so much together and she was my rock. She passed not quite a year ago... I just can't seem to relate to cats in the same way now because they can't live up to Gracie. So I focus on dogs... and I got pretty lucky with these two.

Hi Kristy, my heart goes out to you, but I hope sharing that here has taken away some of the loneliness. I think great times are ahead for ye. Are you really sure you perfected the taste of an Irish lamb, if so patent it and never have to worry again:-)

It was pretty damn close Ben... pretty damn close. The one in Ireland was better but I think I'd take second place. :)

Good for you Kristy, I believe you! It is only as good as the cook who lovingly creates it and for that you are number one!

Sorry to hear that your husband had to go for awhile, must be hard on you.
But I'm happy to hear that you published your book in Spanish, With the Spanish population booming that was a good idea. Also I think it was smart to collaborate with Sandra, great idea Kristy and i wish you the best:)

Apparently Spanish books are hard to find too. I'd already planned to do it but that made it even more exciting.

I'll have to write up our adoption stories for you. Four dogs; three stories as two came together. LOL Good job on uploading the Spanish version! Hope you'll be okay with hubs gone, Kristy. It's been a long long time, but I remember when Ray was in the Army and how it was when he used to go away on maneuvers. UGH

It's been this way since we first started dating, but four years later (? seems like forever, can never remember how long) we'd hoped it would be different. We make it work but... someday it'd be nice to not have to go through this anymore. I know it's harder on him, but it kinda sucks for me too.

I can understand. When Mr. Bo-Bo and Waggy Tails is a huge best seller, things will start to change. Hang in there a little while longer!

Here's hoping...

That's a great idea Kristy, I'll bet you & Sandra work well together. Jon

Easy peasy Jon.

I had a dog once. I was about 14-15 years old maybe when I got him. He looked exactly like Lassie lol. His name was Pongo and he was around for about 6 years I guess. I lost him 3 years ago. :) ahh yeah, he was cool.
Anyway, Hi, Kristy. :)

That's cool! Not a lot of people adopt older dogs. Our next one might be an older dog, these two happened to both be about 3-4 months old when we got them. Mike says we have a Bo and a Daisy... so Luke is an inevitability... although... if it's an older dog, maybe Jesse would be more appropriate, hahaha.

That food sounds yummy....making me hungry!

I love food you can put in a pot and just let it go!
