Trust the Process at Wealthy Affiliate

Just two short weeks ago I stumbled upon a blog article about two different training courses. One looked like it was overpriced while the other was a little bit of a mystery but I found that they (Wealthy Affiliate) had an extensive free trial. Come to find out I would be joining a community that has the same desire to learn and be successful as I do. This is the story of how I got involved with Wealthy Affiliate (WA).

Connection

As I began to do the training, several members of the WA community began to "follow me."

Not long after, a flood of people began posting on my profile. "Is this real" I thought, as I began building out my first niche website. Although I had no idea what that meant even after growing up in an era of social media, I soon found out that the members of the community had intentions of fostering a relationship of support and growth together! WOW. Never have I had an online experience like this.

Growth

The training has been great here at Wealthy Affiliate. Throughout University studies I had learned that most of what I was learning had more to do with the action I took rather than what I was listening to during a lecture. We thrive on building a knowledge base through trial and error and Wealthy Affiliate was just the right tool to foster this creative learning style.

Wealthy Affiliates modules each have tasks in order to go to the next lesson. The feeling of checking off a task is rewarding in itself but also keeps you pushing for progress and growth in the right direction.

Blogging

If you're looking to build out a blog then this is the place to be. In just a couple short weeks I've learned how to leverage SEO to my advantage, a few of my projects got indexed by google, and my site health increases with every post! If growth isn't enough encouragement for you than I don't know what will.

When blogging I've found that best practices are to set daily and weekly goals. Setting these goals will hold you accountable for your actions. My goals are no longer results based. Set goals that are more like, "3 hours of writing daily" or "write a blog post today" rather than "monetize my site this week." This will ensure that you're pushing for progress and not results. Results come through progress and persistency after reaching goals that are practical.

Getting into Deep Work

I read a book by Cal Newport called "Deep Work" and it's about how our habits play into the

amount of deep work we can reach in a given period of time. I've found that I get into flow much easier when I have times to do things. One of the recommendations in the book is to schedule out your day. Now this is a tentative schedule as our lives are busy and you MUST be able to be adaptable. Schedule out two hour blocks and put things that you want to do in those blocks. You're going to want to shy away from results based goals just like the blogging example before.

Your mind is able to enter deep work with less effort if it knows what it's doing throughout the day. Rather than letting your head wander into a place of boredem, make your head go right onto the next task to complete. Don't let your habits make you sink, let your habits push you towards progress. Even if you don't make a single dime just remember, you are part of a lifelong learning process. This is just the beginning.

Just the Beginning

In just two weeks, I've gone through two levels (20 lessons) of training on the online entrepreneur certification course. I've completed every task and continue to push for more goals. I've also built genuine connections with people who share the same standards and values as myself.

If you're looking to build something online, look no further. Rome wasn't built in one day and you're not going to get rich in one day. It's a process that you need to learn to love. Wealthy Affiliate just makes the process that much easier.

Hi Kobe,

I read your blog post 4 weeks after you wrote it. Better late than never.

Just in case you are wondering how is it that so many members welcomed you on your Profile and as of now you have only two members responding on your first blog post.

When I wrote my first post I received only ONE comment ha! So you have done better than I did ha! Here is the link. 4 months after I wrote it I got two more comments lol. I only just found that out when I went to check to see how many members had initially responded. When you are new, your posts go under the radar. Only after you make many friends and develop a rapport do other members take notice and read your post. Don't get discouraged.

About a year later I got over 100 comments for the following post: Don't go by the number of comments shown. That includes my responses to the comments as well. Hence it is always a higher number.

I send you a PM and have yet to hear back from you. I hope all is well with you.

I liked your first blog post. Keep writing more. Oh and my latest post here is about sex. That's correct. Sex!

Cheers.

Edwin
