Creating a Dish

I give a lot of thought into what ingredients I should use. My goal is to present a dish that not only tastes good but is also appealing to the eye, like the stir-fry chicken that I prepared in the above picture.

Consider chicken. You can dice chicken breast, and cook it by itself in a pan with salt and pepper and serve it to someone. It may turn out OK but probably not memorable to want it again.

Or you can add diced onions, green and red bell peppers and diced tomato and stir-fry it with a Creole spice blend like I did. This added flavor that my wife likes and it also had color that was appealing to her eyes. The aroma and the texture eating it all added to the culinary experience.

Not only did I prepare a delicious meal I also excited the senses of smell, sight, taste and eating experience. My target customer was my wife. And she is very hard to please. So I have to go above and beyond to get an attaboy!

Creating a Business

In some ways creating a business is like preparing a meal. You must know your customer. Customers are very finicky. You need to grab their attention quickly. The sight of the food and the aroma gets their attention so they want to at least taste it. And if you did a good job they will enjoy the culinary experience and want more. In business, it is like that. The more senses you impact the greater your chance of success.

At WA we are taught to clearly identify our target market. The narrower the market the better chance of success. Instead of trying to please a large diverse group of customers and developing something bland, it is better to target a specific group and create something that truly excites them. Emotionally rather than logically.

Once a customer wants a product or service for emotional reasons they will logically justify why they have to get it!

It is critical to think about the elements of one's product or service that will grab their attention and entice them to at least try it out. And if it hooks them emotionally, it almost guarantees success.

We target individuals who have a pressing problem in a specific area. It is our job to recommend the optimum solution for their problem. We find their pain and come up with an effective pain killer. We focus on the customer's problem and give a sound solution. They need to feel we care enough to make their lives better. We build relationships in the process that has a direct impact in making our business a success.

The Code Breaker

There is a catch. The chances of knowing what is going to work right off the bat and executing it perfectly is very low. That shouldn't stop us. We educate ourselves and use the tools that WA provides and take action. You've heard the phrase that failure is not an option. I have news for you. It is an option. You have to fail in order to find the winning formula. Those who are successful in business are also the biggest failures. The winning code is to keep trying, keep improving and to never give up.

I look at it this way. The more failures I have the closer I am to succeeding. Chefs do not come up with a winning dish right away. They fail their way to success. I know. The number of times my wife gave me a thumbs down for what I offered her are too numerous to mention. But when she gives me the thumbs up it makes all those failed attempts fade away. And that is how I broke the code in the kitchen. My goal at Wealthy Affiliates is to learn how to break the code to be successful in my online business.

I wish all aspiring business tycoons here at Wealthy Affiliates happy cooking!

P.S. in case you haven’t figured what I cooked up it was spicy chicken stir fry

Wow! Good info. Thanks.
Joseph

Hi Joseph, it took me 8 months to thank you for commenting on my first post at Wealthy Affiliate, I don't return that often to earlier posts and I apologize.

Glad you liked it. BTW the pic of the food was a meal I prepared for myself. It looked colorful so I used it in my theme.

Cheers.

Edwin

Edwin, a great way to look at this process. Breaking the code, Failing into success. I sometimes tell my students "learning self-forgiveness" is really allowing the next step to begin. When I started time-restricted fasting I had to learn how to loosen the grip of perfection. We humans can be hard on ourselves. drawing courage from failure is a very positive perspective. Thanks once more for an outstanding post.

Hello Dr. Jeffrey, when I wrote this post, my first at Wealthy Affiliate, I got only one response. Hence I rarely get back here. I'm glad I did to find your comment from 8 months ago.

Thanks!

Edwin

Good Day, Edwin.

Easily, one of the best meals I'll have the pleasure of enjoying today.

Congratulations on this effort. Your message is one that I understand clearly, and believe to be true.

You have "cracked the code", at least in part, and you are well on your way to creating that special meal. The ingredients that you add to your meal, and the target audience, that you prepare it for are very well stated.

At the end of the day, all great successes are very simple. If we look at Jeff Bezos, for example, all he does is "sell things". Simple right! Simple yes, but look at the ingredients he has used to present his meal to his target audience.

You, my friend, have cracked the code. You see the simplicity of the exercise. You have also brought a fresh look at creating a business that I needed to hear.

I want to mention the importance of writing down your recipe so that it will be easier to recreate.

This written recipe can be a stepping-stone to ensuring more success in your kitchen.

The research that you conduct on your target audience can reveal many nuggets of valuable information to use for that special occasion. A spice she likes, and one that she can't seem to get enough of.

Thank you, for this well-planned meal, and I look forward to sitting at your table again, to enjoy another culinary masterpiece.

Passion and Perseverance are excellent spices to add to your meals. Use them well, and use them often.

Sous-chef, Paul.

Hi Paul,

I created a new FB Business page and this is one of my posts that I have added as an affiliate link. Your words of wisdom will come in very handy.

This was my very first post here and I have learned a lot since then. I may even do some editing combining your comments with what I have learned over the past few months.

A belated thank you for this great response you provided me.

All the best to you.

Edwin
