Opportunities Marketing Locally
Hi: Kirk here. I thought I'd pass along a bit of an eye opener that occurred this morning.
I'm currently re-branding my construction/ renovation company. New name, new website, and a specialized market. I've been building the website as I work through the training here at WA. My website is barely presentable as is. However, I wanted to get the new company name and contact info out there as quick as possible. I spent a couple days over the Easter weekend registering in every free business directory that came up under my keyword search terms.
This morning I received a call from a marketing firm. They gave me the whole spiel. They would get my business listed on Google maps, with Yahoo, and Bing. At the end of their pitch, I inquired about the cost. $250/ month, recurring (indefinitely)!!!! Surely there must be a campaign associated with this. Articles, advertising in directories. Nope! Nada! Just the maps.
I thanked them for their offer. I then proceeded to Register with Google Maps, Yahoo, and Bing. It took all of 90 minutes.
You can probably visualize the Big Light Bulb flashing over my head. There is definitely an opportunity here. I could do everything this marketing firm offered to do for a one time fee. As my marketing skills progress, this can be expanded to include full campaigns.
I haven't made much money at IM. I know it will come. Success takes time and diligence. Its been this way for every other business I've run. In the mean time, I can help some local business' get listed on page one with Google maps. Something to think about for others like myself that are working through the programs here, but not making enough to survive yet.

Hi Lynn. There is definitely a lot to learn. This is just the affiliate marketing end of it. Once I knuckled down and started expanding my horizons it became apparent there are so many off shoots to this. Keep at it. We'll all be authorities sooner than later. Kirk.

Thanks Juli. This was a number of years ago. Some of this remains true still. Although, local marketing has got a lot more competitive. As I mentioned to Lynn below, there are so many off shoots to what we are learning here, the possibilities are endless. All the best. Kirk.
