Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies on WA! Take time to smell the flowers and enjoy a beautiful day. I would give anything to share Mother's Day with my own beloved Mother, but she has passed. Married for 72 years to my Father, they met when they were 8 and 10 at a one room school house in Michigan, where she was the new girl at school. He looked in the schoolhouse window before school started, saw her, and said to his friend, "That's the girl I'm going to marry." She, of course, couldn't stand him until, when she was 16 and he 18, he chased her down the railroad tracks and kissed her. Love blossomed. Living through a war, the depression, and the invention of the radio, tv, electric lights, indoor plumbing, computers and a whole lot more, my mother told me the day before she died that she felt she had lived a "fairy tale life." I was awestruck. They had five children and each is doing well. I miss my mom and dad but they were the very best parents I could ask for and I thank God for their love and the quirky characteristics they each passed down to me. I miss you Mom and Dad!

Kit.. I am truly moved by your memory of these events and I write to thank-you for sharing such a loving feeling toward your parents.
Looking out into the world in which we live I realize that we are not all as fortunate in our relationships with our parents. For those who have not had such experience...I feel saddened
I am most grateful for the way that my own Mother has given her time strength and sensibility through the years of our lives...she has been a stable shoulder of love and responsibility.
Thank you to All the moms who loved so selflessly.
Respect and Kind regard, David
My mother is 103 years young. Mentally sound and the most kindest person I have ever known.
Today I am going to cook for her and the family will be spending lunch with her
Both of my parents were in full possession of their faculties at the time of passing. I was so grateful for that...but my mother was my best friend...and my father was tall, dark, and handsome with a booming baritone voice. He used to sing my mother love songs every day. Our favorite song was "It's A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.
Great Post. I know what you mean I have great in-laws that were more my parents then my in-laws and I miss them terribly. Happy Mother's Day and enjoy the day.
Thank you, CDukes. I am fortunate that both of my daughters are in town for Mother's Day this year. Big brunch at my house, hanging out, then dinner at my eldest daughter's house, which means I get to play with the two grandbaby girls. I'm so lucky!

Hey Kit,
A very moving tribute to your Mom and your description of the
evolution of her and your Dad through extreme times reminds
all of us how important parents are to us. The many hard
decisions and being able to overcome them while providing
a stable environment for their children is a testament to the
family values of those times. A great job and thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Ken
