What's Your WHY?

Right now I'm sitting in an indoor play place, listening to the kid at the next table practice her best dinosaur roar. My kiddo disappeared into the giant play structure half an hour ago, and every once in a while I see her run by... she's living this "school-free" day to the fullest!

Here's the thing. We're in the city because she had to get a procedure done at the children's hospital yesterday. It was minor, but still required general anesthesia. This issue that we are here for started last fall, and so we have been in and out of doctor's offices and finally referred to the experts in the city. It's a small thing, which I'm so thankful for. So many families are walking through much more difficult and life-changing diagnoses.

But sitting here today, I'm reminded of my why. Why am I walking through this steep learning curve of becoming a blogger and a direct sales team builder? Why am I working so hard, when my husband has a dream career that would allow me to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom?

She's my why. My precious daughter. I watch her playing with abandon, even though yesterday she was on a hospital gurney. She lives life so fully in each moment -- she looks for joy and beauty all around her every day. She finds the fun. She is unafraid to make friends and makes them wherever she goes. (She feels the sadness fully, too, so it's not always easy.)

Here she is with the amazing anesthesiologist yesterday, learning about how it all works. :-)

We are not guaranteed tomorrow! As this wonderful doctor explained the risks to me, I sat there knowing that we were not guaranteed a perfect outcome. My mama's heart was terrified. My girl, on the other hand, skipped down the hallway to the OR with daddy, favorite stuffies in hand, trusting us and trusting the doctors.

She is my why and my inspiration. She teaches me every day to let go of my fears, to embrace today, to find beauty and dance down the sidewalk (or the hospital hallway, wherever you find yourself). I will succeed so that I can give her the gift of freedom. I will teach her that she can build a business too, live her passions and share them with the world.

What is YOUR why? Is it front and center in your mind as you wake up every morning, and as you lay down to go to sleep? Sometimes this journey is hard and tiring and overwhelming, and success feels far away. But each day can take us closer. Each day can be filled with growth, learning, and taking action.

I'd love to hear your why! Will you share it below?

Awesome and inspiring

My "why" and my "inspiration" also my daughter - and she's 32 years old !

Hello Kim, that was beautiful!
My why is to try and help other people with health problems find natural solutions and to help pet owners and pets be healthier and happier. It is also to hopefully gain financial freedom one day so I can focus on the things in life that make me and my husband happy, be able to afford a house and not worry about debt and bills.

Hi Jessica! Thank you! Yes, financial freedom is a biggie! And helping people as well -- that's key. It will take time and work but I know we can get there! No giving up!

My 'why' is the same as yours - I want to give my family a secure future :)

Yes! :-) I don't want us to struggle when we get to retirement. I don't want my girl to worry about us; and I want to empower HER future, too!
