Day 3 of Wealthy Affiliate.I'm stuck on the fence!
Ok so my first blog post, my 3rd day at wealthy affiliate and I have gotten to the stage of upgrading my account from starter to premium... which I haven't actually confirmed yet...
And I must say i'm pretty nervous!! Nobody wants to pay out money before they can guarantee any sort of income back and at the moment i'm pretty stuck! I know I will invest a lot of time into this and i'm very passionate about it working but I have heard many horror stories about pyramid schemes etc etc and it still makes me feel very wary of online platforms and referral systems.
So basically i'm blogging for a bit of reassurance actually... I know i'm going to upgrade but my inner student hates spending money! I am working and travelling at the moment so obviously my budget is not disposable but I feel I turn my business into an income for my travels. I also have a couple of questions for anyone who can answer them...
- My idea is to use myself to provide a service for people; I am an English teacher and want to advertise myself as an online teacher. Would this site work for this or is it purely for referrals, affiliate and recommending products?
- I have qualifications in teaching so didn't know whether to focus on teaching "students", giving advice for "teachers" or both. Is it better to just focus on one aspect initially?

Hey Kim - I am a teacher also and I am passionate about teaching children to be accountable for their actions in their young lives at school and for the rest of their lives, but I don' t know how to make miney from that without becoming a therapist or something. But I AM ALSO passionate about making MONEY online AND about being and staying HEALTHY in body, mind and spirit. So those are the two niches I am building my TWO websites on: making money as an affiliate of WEALTHY AFFILIATE and making money helping people over 50 (like ME!) lose weight and getting healthy........ so I was scared to take that "premium" leap too, 2 months ago, and NOW I am putting CONTENT on my 2 sites because I have gone through the first level of training and am halfway through Course 2, and I haven't made any money yet eitber. But $19.00 is nothing for the first FULL month and you cannot take your family out to eat for $20.00 any more at a decent restaurant! So invest in yourself and cut back on coffee from Starbucks or chips and a soda and you have to DO what others will NOT DO to HAVE what others will NEVER HAVE!!!!! Good luck to you! Sorry for the spelling booboos - I HATE incorrect spellings and usage in sentences so I HATE that my comment has spelling errors in it! But Iam typing on my little phone at home, and not typing on my computer, so I apologize for the above errors!! That's the "teacher" still in me coming to the surface wanting to fix spelling errors!! :-)
I am a senior level IT person with 40 plus years of experience. I proved my expertise by working for major companies for most of my life. I am saying that so that I will give credibility to the next statement. When I came here I was not a beginner. I came here to reduce my company's expenses. The issue of going from a free member to a paid member I think is a no brainer. The cost is so little it may as well be free. $47 is absolutely nothing. If I as an experienced person could learn something at WA being a beginner the experience should be close to life changing. Kyle makes the training simple enough for an elementary school student to follow it. Building websites with WordPress is Just nothing. It is super simple and fairly easy. There have been thousands of people to go through this process. If you can find a market for your self... Which you can do easily by googling it, and you can read at a sixth grade level then you can follow this training and do the things to generate income for yourself. It is just not difficult at all.
Hi Kim, In order for you to decide whether to be an online teacher or to be a teacher's reference and self-help site, you will need to think about how you want to help people with your expertise.
You would also need to think about keywords and what questions are being asked in this niche. Would you want to offer affiliate products or write your own products?
As for upgrading to premium. There is so much more to access with the premium membership. It is an investment in yourself and your future. The first month you will have the discount so if nothing else, you can see what the premium membership has to offer. Best of luck to you. Dave.
Thank you dave, I was unsure about whether making 2 separate websites would be more beneficial but then I thought maybe it would get more traffic if I incorporated both teachers and students.
For teachers especially there could be hundreds of keywords, but generally the learners would search for the same generic keywords. So maybe having two websites but I could keep the branding the same for both?

two web sites would be the best in this situation. You could have links on certain pages linking both together for certain things. If I were you, I would do the teacher one first but that is just me. Dave.

2) upgrade within the first 7 days gives you a discount of 59% for the first month. $19 for one month is a very reasonable amount. It gives you 4 weeks to experience the awesomeness of WA and this community.

No pyramid schemes here. You are not joining under any body. There is no hierarchy. It is all about you, you are in control, it's you time you invest. There are no gotcha upgrades around the corner. This is the best $19.00 I have ever spent
