My Cure for being Overwhelmed

I learned some lessons in working in a warehouse years-n-years ago to deal with being overwhelmed.

I was new there, the one driver was out with a knee injury, and the other two guys were always out of the store.
Well, I would have an entire warehouse full of skids piled as high as they could get them and still unload them out of the trucks.

So...I would narrow down my focus and take it in steps.

Step 1 ... paperwork.
Step 2 ... put stock away

Then step 2, that is the biggee... so I would have to get certain skids out of the way first, so you narrow your focus to them, then narrow even further to one box at a time if you
need to. You cannot look at the 23 skids piled high all at once and you have to stop at 2 o'clock and start loading trucks for tomorrows delivery and get anything done. Narrow that focus.

How do I apply this to my online biz work and not being overwhelmed?

Well, organize things into the main steps, then into smaller steps.

Training
Note taking (I NEED this bad)
Keyword research
etc...

I take notes, and even write things down on 3x5 cards for quick reference.

I like the spiral bound notebooks best, I can just turn the page.

I make steps within the steps if I need help I break it down further.

Concentrate on that step until I am done it and do not let my mind wander to the next.
If I let my mind wander I freak out.

This is especially important when I get more than one project going.
I do not want to forget where I left off. Life has a way of hitting you hard and taking your attention away.

Now I even allot a certain amount of time for things so I can get more done.

Helps me. Sometimes my girlfriend has to remind me to do this.

If you have been at it a long time, get up and walk away. Take a walk, do some push-ups (this really works for me). Do something physical. Learned this from reading one of the founding fathers bio's and it works. I cannot run due to back issues, but running would be good.

Have a great one.

Great ideas. I follow a similar schedule process. Nice post!

Thanks

A thought I have is when going through the lessons, make sure you create cheat sheets of each. This way all you need to do when repeating any process is to make copies of the cheat sheets as needed and check things off.

Anything like this organizational is great advice! I've enjoyed both of your recent posts and social media'd them.

Thank you Daniel... cheat sheets rock! I gotta have them.

Very good advice! I also use spiral notebooks to write things down and check off what I want to get done once I accomplish it. Since I've started doing this I've found it easier to keep track of what I still need to do yet.

Very good words to operate by.

thank you.
