Haters
I read a post yesterday concerning people being negative about our choices to go into this field. My reply to that was haters gonna hate just keep doing.
This morning I stumbled into this quote:
"Hug your haters and kill them with your kindness."
Written in 2015 by Rohan Chaubey
I find this to be very true. My day job is in law enforcement. I run into this daily. As a rookie it kind of bothered me. Now I have fun with being nice to the haters. It makes it really difficult for them to maintain their hate when I dont respond in kind.
I no longer let their attitudes influence me. I dont internalize their negativity. This was NOT an easy process I assure you, but it is achievable.
I wish you success and keep on doing.

The easiest road is to react to the negativity, but that is what the hater wants. Taking the higher road is never easy, but it is the one that can deescalate a very dangerous situation. Thanks for showing the alternative Kevin.
You are so right. Life isnt about the easy road. Its about making learning to make the hard road easy.
Hi Kevin, many thanks for this invaluable advice! I encounter this in my profession as well and it took me a while to be able to manage the 'professional boundaries' where this issue was concerned. Some clients certainly knew how to try and turn it personal!
It also took me a while to figure that the online haters also came within the 'professional' context. Just because I was working at WA in my own time, doesn't make this work any less professional. So it took me a while, but the penny drops eventually! Have a great weekend, Sue :)
Great post, Kevin. I spent a lifetime in industries where people seem to get PO'd rather easily (retail management and home improvement). I would look at it as a personal challenge to turn these people around......I'm going to make this guy smile if it takes.....!
Kindness and empathy are huge virtues.
Have a great day!

great advice Kevin, negativity and hatred uses too much negative energy and just causes stress. Let it all float over you, remember that hatred is about them and not you, and be like the hippies in the ’70’s, peace man
Very true. It would be nice if it was an easy skill to learn though.
hey Kevin, I am not sure if it is a skill, it is more of a ‘can’t be bothered’ attitude, and move on to what you find interesting and fruitful
For laid back people thats a valid point. For some of us, on the other hand, it takes a great deal of patience and learning to master. Its taken me a great number of years to learn to maintain my calm with haters. Now that Im there it seems so simple.
