Never be afraid to ask - Just do it politely
Wow, so this will be my second blog post in 2 days. To be honest I have only just sat down to the computer and have had very little time today and am just doing a little housekeeping, filing of emails etc. Once done I am going to spend a little time reading through Shareasales terms and learn a little more about how they work but before I do I wanted to do this quick blog.
Why is that, well its because I have been approved as an affiliate. Ok so for many this may not be a big deal, but I applied 2 months ago when my site only had a few posts and my application was rejected. I assumed of course it was because my site was in its infancy so a few weeks ago I reapplied as my site now has 30 posts, 50k words and a social media presence.
But guess what, declined again. I thought maybe I had done something wrong with my application so reapplied making sure I was very diligent in the way I completed all the forms. The next day, the same result. The reasons for sharing this with you? Well many years ago I would have taken a deep breath, sighed and though oh well what can I do and left it at that.
Well I'll tell you what I can do and that is ask them why, so I did. I sent a short email to them explaining briefly about my site, how it was growing, how I make sure the content is only of the highest quality and how my social media presence is increasing.
I then explained that I fully understood that they have certain criteria that I must meet and I would love to be able to work towards achieving this in future. If they could let me know what I need to work towards I would be extremely grateful.
To my surprise the very next day I received an apology email saying that I shouldn’t have been declined and a second email welcoming me to Shareasale.
So, the moral of the story, never be afraid to ask, after all what’s the worst that can happen. Just do so politely and in a considered way and you never know you might get the answer you were looking for.
Have a great day everyone

Good on you to be so persistent.. I did a similar thing with a company in Rakuten. I applied through Rakuten to a particular program, one that would enhance my website, it was one that gives an automatic yay or nay ... some have to be manually approved by the company, but not this one. It was a nay. So I emailed them, told them about my website which by this stage was quite well established. They immediately replied and approved me! Sometimes it’s worth the effort.
Good post. I know I've been rejected at CJ and just dropped it even though I had no idea why I was rejected. I think I'm going to reapply now and be ready to email them if rejected. Thanks Kevin. -shirley
Thanks Shirley, as far as I'm aware it should be easy with shareasale so no idea why they said no. Proves its worth asking the question though!

Awesome Kevin, really like reading about triumphs like you have just had.
We don't ask and we have 100%. chance of failure, just by asking the odds have increased by 50%.
Best wishes as your content starts to convert.
