Around the (Wealthy Affiliate) World in 80 days

So today I have been here 80 days and if I were Phileas Fogg my journey should now be over but I am not and what these past 80 days have actually taught me is my journey is just beginning.

I am blogging today, coincidentally my 80th day as I have got back to the training and my next task is to update everyone on what I have achieved so far. It is actually quite timely as I have had a hectic month and my endeavours here have had to take a back seat so being able reflect on what I have achieved despite that is helpful to me.

Why did I join Wealthy Affiliate?

Well I had made a conscious decision to avoid technology for many years and basically become a bit of a hippy! After quite a few years of travel and self reflection it was time to reassess my life and I made the decision to embrace technology once again.

About 12 months ago I bought myself a mac book pro and got back online looking for ideas for the future. I haven't had to work for anyone else for almost 20 years but I know in the future I will need to supplement my income and will need to find a way of doing that.

But it needs to be something I enjoy, so I looked for ideas and inspiration, is this possible to find from behind a computer screen I asked myself?

The online world is full opportunity but also people making promises they cannot keep, what I really wanted to do was start my own online business or blog, to do something I enjoyed and felt passionate about, something in the long term I could learn how to monetise. But how would I start? I had no idea, and then after months of indecision I stumbled upon Wealthy Affiliate.

What have I learnt?

So in 80 days around the Wealthy Affiliate world what have I learnt? Well I have learnt how to set up my own Wordpress Site. I have learnt how to choose a suitable theme and utilise plugins.

I have learnt how to use keywords to optimise seo. I have learnt how to get pages indexed almost immediately and to utilise analytics. I have learnt how to optimise picture size and page speeds. I have learnt how to use social media platforms.

I have learnt patience when things aren't working as someone in this community will be along to help and most of all I have learnt that I actually enjoy working at a computer again.

What have I achieved?

So if I have learnt all of that what have I achieved? Well I have my own website with 21 articles all of which are indexed in google and have written 33k words. My site has 115 images of which over 30 are unique.

I have 2 pages that currently rank on page one of Google and this is within a 'niche' that really isn't a niche. All of this is great but my greatest achievement is that I now know that I have an online future.

So would I recommend Wealthy Affiliate?

In a second, and without doubt I will do in the future. I started 80 days ago with zero knowledge and with no idea of how to produce a blog, a post or a website to where I am now.

The training here at Wealthy Affiliate is excellent and even more importantly so is the community who contribute so much knowledge and experience.

It is my kind of learning, by which I mean you learn, then apply what you learn and then move on. And if you don't understand or if you have a problem you ask and the community respond.

Oh, and as the training said to add it, here is a link to my site as it stands so far. I'm sure to many of you the topic won't be of interest but at least it shows what can be done in just 2 or 3 hours per day with zero knowledge. So around the world in 80 days? Well you can if you want but I prefer not to rush
