4 Months, 5 Levels and £1.50
I decided today to have a few hours reviewing where I was on my site and updating a few things and realised that my first post was 4 months old today!
So not having blogged for a little while I thought it was time for a quick update for anyone interested. So what have I done in 4 months? Well I have tried my best to spend at least 3 hours a day either on my site or learning.
It’s not always been possible but I’m probably not far off in terms of time spent. Last week I completed level 5 of the OEC training and yesterday I published by 40th post.
I have written almost 60k words, added social media channels and now have a sign-up form and auto responder. I’m really happy with how the site looks and works and in a very competitive niche I have a few posts on page one of google (searching incognito).
Out of 40 posts I only have 2 that are product reviews (the nature of my niche) but am looking to add more in the coming months. I have however had my first sale a whole £1.50. To be fair it came from a question I answered on Facebook recommending a book, but someone went to my site and bought 3 books from Amazon. If nothing else it proves the system works!
So what next, I’m working on developing the social media channels (learning Pinterest) and have written the content for a free eBook that I want to give away to encourage subscription. I now just have to learn how to lay it out.
This last 4 months had been a massive learning curve for me and I now know so much more than 4 months ago but also know how much I don’t know, if you know what I mean!!!
My plan is to finish the eBook and then aim to publish 2 posts per week. This site will always be my baby but I don’t (and never did) see it as a big income generator. So as of April 1 I am looking to start boot camp and take what I have learnt so far over there.
So the moral of my story so far. Well if I can build a site, have posts on page one of google and generate organic traffic in a difficult niche with zero experience in 4 months of just 2-3 hours per day, imagine what you can do.
If you pick a niche with less competition and high value products you could already be generating an income. The most important thing is to enjoy the process, even the frustrations when you feel you don’t know what you are doing. Use the great support network here and do a little everyday
I’m off to spend my £1.50, until next time
