I Wanted to be a Dancer
I wanted to be a dancer, however, growing up in a particularly rough part of South East London, dancing was not a recognised career path. So I settled for the dancers default profession and became an engineer, which brings me to the point of this micro blog.
As an engineer I am able look at a 2D drawing an visualise in 3D. However, I have discovered that working through the lessons requires an aptitude for abstract visualisation, which I do not possess. How pages link together and various topics links from page to page. And most importantly, how to make the whole thing flow.
So what to do, I wrote the page headings one under the other with the content subjects and any links required.
Page 1 Title
Content titles + any links.
and so on. This allowed me to see everything laied out on one page and the scales dropped from my eyes.
This simple approach enabled me to quickly understand the way I wanted whole thing to flow. This was a eureka moment.
Hope this helps someone.
Wishing you all health, wealth and happiness.
Keith

Wow!! You really wanted to become a dancer? That is very interesting...... I know many dancers that became attorneys, doctors, & teachers, etc. Now I know a wanna-a-be dancer turned engineer :-) It's never too late to dance, ya know!! hehe
From would-be dancer to engineer - that's quite a career path! I also had to create a diagram for myself - it made it much simpler.
I used to direct musicals with the music teacher at the high school. I can visualize everything in my head. I see the set, and the whole play being performed. Even when I read, I visualize the book in my head. They never cast the right actors when they make movies of books. If they would only listen to me. I know who should play each role. But they don't know me, so why would they listen to me. Oh, well, I digress. It took me a while to realize the music teacher could not visualize in his head. I would explain the set I wanted to build and he had no idea what I was talking about. Those that visualize have a unique skill. I'm a very visual learner and learn best when I see things as opposed to hearing them. Your technique of writing it down would be right up my alley. I think I will try it. I love working in outline form.
Thanks Liz, I had often wondered how music composers manage to create such huge pieces, they obviously have the visualisation gift.
Reading books is the best. We create all of our own characters. And you are correct. they never get the film correct.
Thanks Liz.

I still want to be a dancer. My goal is for me and my wife to be able to learn disco. I know not really dancing. But I think it would be super cool for the two of us to break out into a routine at a wedding. So many people would be shocked.

Brilliant idea Rob, you see it happen in films and think - how cool would that be.
Look forward to an update.
