Longevity - have you got it in you?
Well, folks, we all know that the Wealthy Affiliate platform has been in existence for over 14+ years and counting . . .
how long have you been around as a member on this awesome WA platform?
the myriad of questions asked by many starter members have hinged around the 'how long to get There question . . . ?'
and the varying replies generally say -- it's a long-distance marathon and not a sprint to the finish line ....
have you ever seen a live, gigantic tortoise?
well, some years back, during a walk along a river walk-way, stood a humongous turtle right smack on the middle of the sidewalk .... now how on earth did he get there? .... at the time, I thought of how unusual that is to see a gigantico hard-shelled amphib.!
And one of the questions we were wondering were:
how long can a tortoise live -- apparently, a giant tortoise can live 80 - 120 years, is this correct? ...
As we're talking about longevity and certainly about staying Power here with Wealthy Affiliate, there's an outlandish story to be shared today!
have you ever heard about the 256-year young man, Li Ching Yuen, who reportedly lived a very long life? ... he was skilled in Qigong (type of energy exercise) and was also a herbalist, and practiced as a martial artist, and military strategist..... would be quite a curiosity today!
An article, titled "Tortoise-Pigeon-Dog", from the 15 May 1933 issue of Time reported on his history, and it included Li's answer to the secret of a long life:
HIs four-prong approach to longevity":
- Keep a quiet heart
- Sit like a tortoise
- Walk sprightly like a pigeon
- Sleep like a dog
Sure, take a moment to allow those four principles to steep into one's consciousness.
I did.
And thought of how interesting & unusual!
What if we lived that long?
Well, we would then likely out live our savings, perhaps?!
All the more reason, to participate in the long-distance walk or stroll here at WA and take it step by step to Success over the long haul! ...

It would be fantastic to live a long life, as long as it was a healthy one.
A friend of mine is nearly 101, she drives her own car, goes for daily walks, bakes delicious cakes, rakes the leaves off her lawn and plays cards.
She claims her longevity is due to dancing.

yes, apparently, dancers do very well, health-wise ... likely a combination of activity that requires mental attention to the steps (numerical- left brain), to music & rhythm (right brain) and just plain fun! ... chuckles! ...

I would , but not for the reasons most would think. I am a devout follower of space exploration and I would like to be alive to witness mankind actually stepping on the Martian surface. Jim
At this stage it's all in the planning. We have sent a number of robotic explorers, but an actual manned flight to the red planet is still a few years away.

People are living longer, those that take care of their bodies by eating healthily and exercising and also take care of their brain by continuing to learn and keeping a curiousity about life.
Mindset is massively important too. Once you start believing you are old, then you become old.

That's a true fact about turtles, Keisha. I learned that from watching the movie "Finding Nemo" and that turtle named Crush who was about 150 years old.
I'm hoping to become successful much sooner than that. 👍

For various reasons, I thought my life span would be 64 years, but that was when I was much younger. Glad that limit has come and gone. In my forties, I had it in my muddled mind that I would live to 72. Now, many years later, my mark is 90, beyond that, all is dark to me. I had an uncle that swore he live to see 100 years. On his 100th birthday, he quietly laid down, for the last time. However long I am granted, I will most likely be here learning, growing and having fun.
