What did Benjamin Franklin have to say about success in business?

Amazingly, here's a number of questions that he poses rhetorically for us to ponder over, think about, reflect upon and perhaps even react to:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Who is wise? He that learns from everyone.

Who is powerful? He that governs his passions.

Who is rich? He that is content.

Who is that? Nobody."

----Benjamin Franklin----.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My comment: Benjamin Franklin -- what a brilliant mind he had and it was likely due to his acute powers of observation! ... how do you like what he had to say about entrepreneurs? ... is it still relevant in today's terms? ...

Interestingly, someone has gone into the numerical world of statistical analysis to find out of how many 'failures on average' before success is realized at the end game.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Here is what Lisa Amos has discovered about the key characteristic of entrepreneurs:

"Entrepreneurs average 3.8 failures before final success.

What sets the successful ones apart is their amazing persistence.

... pure entrepreneurial types almost never accept defeat."

----Lisa M. Amos----.

Great post. A successful entrepreneur has to start as carbon, hardened by high pressure over time to become a diamond.

💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

... 💎 ... !

I may be in the minority here, but that orange looks better that those gummy bears. but, I have never had a gummy bear, so what do I know?.

And Ben Franklin is my all-time favorite American. I try to carry as many of his pictures with me as possible.

*** hey hi Ambassador! ... yummie-gummie bears! .... it's ok Markio ... it's all Super Sugar! ... stuff you wouldn't need anyway with the fitness craze happenin' ....

Glad you've enjoyed this post and with all those Ben Franklin pictures -- you must have a cartload of photo albums then, or perhaps even an art gallery full?! ...

Keep well, keep happy! .... cheerio ... 🍬🍬🍬 ... gummies!

Soon, I want a yacht full

I want to read the "nutritional" information on the gummy bears. These kids at the library must be on them. They are too young to afford coke. Reminds me of Monkey Island" at the zoo.

Maybe they are just "jacked up" on gummies and Mt. Dew.

Seven librarians and I have never even seen anyone check a book out in 3 years.

... uhm --- seriously? ... no books checked out? ... that's very, very interesting! ... quizzical times ...

No wonder the great America is like 125th in the world in literacy. And I think that is over-rated. Dumbest people out of the 20 countries I have been to by a country mile. Ukraine has like a 99.8 literacy rate and the highest rate of upper-education in the world.

.... still astounded by what you've said earlier about no one checking out a library book outta the library for the past three years? ... for real? ...

I go to about 5 different libraries in the Memphis area and the one in Raleigh has 11 computers and parents just drop their kids off there so they do not have to pay baby sitters I guess. 5-10 year olds running around unsupervised and tying up all the computer playing video games.

In 3 years I have never seen one book get checked out and they must have 8-10 librarians who just stare at their phones and eat. No wonder these kids grow up to be part of the human crime wave. You can guess which political party their parents belong to.

.... amazing! .... so what kind of world will this be like soon? ...

Keisha,

I think this is a wonderfully interesting article!

I do believe the questions Ben Franklin posed back then, are still relevant today. He was a very intellectual man who studied many different field and was prominent in all of them. His bio calls him a Polymath, which is a person of great learning in several fields of study.

I doubt that his thinking and all his inventions will ever be forgotten no matter how you walk this earth...as an entrepreneur or as a lay person.

What comes to mind when you think of Philadelphia, the Liberty Bell, of flying a kite?

Just saying!

Barbara

hey Wow Barbara! ... glad to know that you find this an interesting post! ... and you're so right! ... Benjamin Franklin would probably make a very exciting dinner guest to enjoy a conversation with, wouldn't he? ... what do you say we invite him over? ... :)

Thanks kindly for your insightful, wonderful commentary!

All the best, cheerio ... ⭐️🏆⭐️ ... :)

Keisha, Do you have a time machine, cause I don't!
Love to have him to dinner along with Albert Einstein and a few others.

Barbara

*** That's a Super idea, Barbara! ... ok ... let's make up the Guest List! ... who else would you like to invite? ...

.... Ben Franklin, Albert Einstein ... and ? .... :) ***

Thomas Edison, Princess Diana (always admired her), Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, Robert Frost, Rudyard Kipling, Pope Francis, and JFK.

I think we'll need a big table.

Barbara

wonderful guest list! ... that would make for a great dinner party! ....
the biggest sit-down dinner party with all the complete settings and accoutrements et al must have been maybe about 15 people ... have hosted other events -- mostly stand ups with help yourself buffet-style ....

i enjoy mostly smaller venues now -- more intimate and can get a good conversation going ....

and of course -- used have weekly Fabulous Friday potlucks with the neighbours after a long week -- i'd do up a mega-bake dish, others would bring wine, or dessert or something ...

those were true 'social' events -- live and in-person vs the 'virtual 'world today!' ... lol ... chuckles!

sure -- that sounds like a darling dinner event happenin'! ... :)

Keisha,

I know what you mean about live social events. I would enjoy them as well.

The virtual world is taking over the world.

Barbara

... ya -- interesting of how the 'on-line virtual' world has taken people's attention by being fixated on a screen ....

... yes, quite a phenomenon ... wonder if anyone's studied the effects of it?

.... what's happening to humanity or maybe a better question, what is not happening with humanity? ...

.... last century, people were much more physically active, i think getting outdoors, exercising, etc. ... and now mostly a lot of 'sit' time in front of the screen .... our bodies were made for movement to keep healthy ....

.... and speaking of that ... must take puppy out soon ...

.... enjoy chatting with you, Barbara, keep well, keep happy!

and do let me know more about the dinner party! ... where shall we have it? ... need a banquet hall at this rate! ... cheerio .. :)

Keisha,

You are absolutely spot on!

Enjoy our chat's as well!

Barbara

Awesome wise words and he's literally 'on the money'

Awesome to YOU, too, Ambassador Twack!

Appreciate you popping by with your reply to enjoy a visit & chat here today!

Yes, literally, 'on the money!' .... ⭐️🏆⭐️😊⭐️ ... !

Love it!
Joe

... glad you enjoyed this post! ... cheerio ... ⭐️🏆⭐️ ...
