Dear Wealthy Affiliate members, answer seekers, question askers ...

For all who love learning, asking questions, giving answers and being a winner at it ....

... this is a brief post to celebrate a giant of an educator for the world who has just left to transition . . .

A Tremendous Tribute to: "The Answer is . . . "

Awesome Televison Game Show Host Icon & Personality, Alex Trebek has passed at 80 years young -- (July 22, 1940 – November 8, 2020).

He was a Canadian-American television personality and game show host educating tens of thousands around the world on syndicated tv.

Alex was very much like a comfortable ol' friend to many, many around the world and made learning a very popular thing to do!

He hosted "Jeopardy"! for 36 years from 1984 until his death in 2020.

It's reported that the average earnings by a contestant on the show would be about 40.5k and the highest reported winnings were $77.k

How did the program make its money? ... it was considered quite profitable as the great number of television viewers provided big dollars in advertising revenues from the various show sponsors. The pay outs to the participants having their brains exercised were only a fraction of the total operating expenditures after all the bills were paid for staff such as: Trebek's contract, research staff, rent, production costs.

It is planned that his remaining shows will continue to be aired until December 25, 2020.

How did he want to be remembered?

He simply wanted people to remember him as a 'decent guy who helped his contestants to do their best' -- a 'good guy' ... 'nice man' and 'I liked him.'

Well, there goes another great personality . . .

Let's hope we can still obtain clear, correct answers to our questions as we do here on this Awesome Wealthy Affiliate platform -- learning and educating will always be in vogue!

All the best, Alex, and thank YOU for all the tremendous good that you have shared with this world!

Thank YOU for reading this Tribute . . . and the Answer is . . .

May you all be blessed with the right answer after you've asked the right question . . .

Yes, Jeopardy was also my favorite game show, because I could learn so much.

I used to watch Jeopardy! when Art Fleming was the host. Was sad to see it end, and very glad to see it renewed in the 80's with Alex Trebek.

Such a loss due to Pancreatitis.

Loved to watch Jeopardy or any other quiz show where you can apply your otherwise useless knowledge of obscure things.

The "Alex" picture caught my eye.
I used to hang out around there occasionally.
It's the train station Alexanderplatz in the centre of (East) Berlin.

Jeopardy question:
Name the most influental book of the roaring 1920's in Germany?

--- Berlin Alexanderplatz --- (Alfred Döblin)

How is that for the right answer?

.... excellent! ... :)

He will be missed. Thank you for the tribute!

hi Kimberly ...

Appreciate you stopping by with your reply ... yes, he was quite the Top Educator icon for the world --- he made questions and answers fun to do and the learning as well ...

keep well, all the best .... :)

Oh...
What an icon Alex was for this Jeopardy addict!
RIP! Thank you for many hours of fun!
Thank you, Keisha for sharing this.
Best!
Barb

good to know you enjoyed many hours of fun, joy & learning with his show ...

did you have a favorite episode? ... and if yes, perhaps you might share it here ....

keep well ... all the very best ... :)

We all probably watched Ken, for weeks, when he was the first big, big winner for weeks!
Barb
BTW...Back in the bar days, this was an after work treat! About 10 of us were there always!
Daily doubles were shout-outs for free drinks!

Ken, for weeks!! First big long time winner!
A group of us would meet at the neighborhood pub right after work, each with their special categories.
Daily doubles meant free drinks to the first person to Shout-out!
Years ago!
That was before I gave up drinking...LOL
Barb

I guess I answered twice, oops!

... it's all ok, Barb ... glad it brought back happy memories for you to enjoy ...

;... sounds like you enjoyed a great time during that period ...

and apparently, he had 7 shows left and they'll be shown between now and Christmas ...

keep well & enjoy ... blessings ... 🙏 ...

Wow, so said that another icon has passed, Keisha!

Jeff

ya know ... so true! ... all these wonderful personalities who also had the strength of character all passing ... they sure don't make 'em like they used to ... do they? ...

No, not at all, Keisha! Many of today's just don't measure up, IMHO!

Jeff

... well, i guess that's why i enjoy reading biographies of the great ones ...

... i think it's the life and times that shape their characters during their early years in life ... i think the tougher the times, the harder the struggle, the stronger the character made ...

... there we have it ... :)

Very nice explanation, Keisha!

Jeff

... just observations ... each generation flips over for the new ... we should be evolving further with what we have as 'powers' inherent in all of us .... it's all within ... :)

I agree completely, Keisha!

Jeff

... here's to hoping the light prevails to shed enlightenment for all ...

Totally agreed!
