So I got a custom theme and the size is 84mb, I used the usual upload theme on wordpress but upon reaching maybe 40% upload, the website shuts down with an error. Any other what is

Maybe your cache gets full. Maybe you need an external uploader like FileZilla (like Chriss said)

Right, I will clear my cache thanks!

It could be your web browser. I know I face many difficulties uploading anything with firefox.

I used google chrome! But yea, firefox does have issues doesn't it?

May need support help. Some themes must be loaded by filezzilla because of their size.

Is filezilla reliable? That is one of those FTP things right?

Filezilla is a free download that holds website structure. I have not had any trouble with it. Search in top bar here and follow instructions.

Thanks mate :)

That's pretty big, but as it's a custom or premium theme you may want to check inside the .zip file to confirm it doesn't contain additional folders that you shouldn't be uploading.

Sometimes you'll find folders for PSD's, documentation and then another .zip that contains the theme.

The other option it to, unzip/extract to your computer, connect via FTP and upload inside the httpdocs/wp-content/themes folder.

Nice, thought your comment was right on target and really answered his question.

Hmm... will look into that! Awesome thanks! :D

Is FTP something that I have to sign up another account?

You don't need another account to use FTP for accessing your sites. FTP transfers, though, are only possible to your personally-owned domains that you're hosting here. (The siterubix subdomains don't support it.) The user name and password for each site are shown on that site's "Details" page in the siterubix "Site Manager" panel.

Oh! Yea I saw the FTP account details but how do I access it?

Hi McKing,
The problem is the file size, you have a max file size upload limit set, I'm not sure what it is, but its likely around 25MB.

Accessing your hosting via FTP is really the only option.
I have a video explain how to connect using FileZilla
FTP & FileZilla - Connecting to domain via FTP

But I still think your .zip file contains more than just the theme.
Is this a theme you purchased and from what site?
Have you extracted the .zip file to see what's inside?

Got it. Thanks man :D

I would recommend asking live chat about it, maybe they might have some good helpful comments they can give you. They usually respond quickly. Good luck :)

It was late and I wanted to sleep after uploading and failing 3 times *gasp* haha but thanks anyway :)
