Rome Wasn't Built in A Day .................or even a week...............or month

Rome took a lot more time than that.............

It took approximately 1009,491 days to build Rome, and, with the building practises of the day, a LOT of blood, sweat and tears.

So, if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed or frustrated that you will not get there, or growing your business too slowly and having to eat (and possibly sleep) by your keyboard, spare a thought for the poor slaves who were laying all the bricks - on and on they toiled, until the last brick was laid.

I was stressing that I have nothing to show for being back at WA for over two months now (and been here before a few years ago), when by way of gentle encouragement, I was kindly reminded today that "Rome wasn't built in a Day", but they were laying bricks every day. That was very timely, and gave rise to my first blog! I found myself wondering how long did it take to build Rome, and what methods were used, and visions of toiling slaves came to mind. This, while I was contemplating lunch, stroking my mouse (such hard work).....

Increasingly I had been feeling the pressure of late. I have so much to learn, but how much blood, sweat and tears am I shedding?

How hard is persistence, researching, sharing, friending, liking, promoting, selecting beautiful graphics, writing about things we are passionate about, reviewing, expanding our knowledge, building websites (I will find this out), selling online (no travelling involved), the list goes on and on (until one has to go outside for the occasional breath of fresh air).

I'm not saying it is easy, but there is so much to be happy about, to be excited about. We can build our own empire in our pyjamas if we so choose! A few meters from the refrigerator! A few meters from our bed! Just so long as we remember, just as the bricks had to be laid every day for Rome to rise from the dirt, Rome needed a plan and a driving force.

Have you got a plan, and are you the driving force to build your own empire? Are you "laying bricks" every day? Will you see it to completion? I know I will - we all can, here at WA.

Really appreciated this blog. Thanks it has helped me put a few things including W.A. learning progress into perspective. Thank you and keep laying those bricks.

1

You're very welcome. We are all helping each other here and it is nice to know I was able to contribute something. Brick laying in progress......

1

Very inspiring. Excellent, especially when considering it is your first blog. Are you sure there were not even tears shed over this one--haha.

2

Oh, you know, it's a bit hard to shed tears when hyperventilating.....but after the prompt which got me going (Rome wasn't built etc) I was on a roll which carried me through! It's been so well received, I'm on another roll (but not writing, as I still have to eat my dinner from last night!). After all my weeks of hesitation, all I can urge anyone is to "put it out there, put it out there"......
Anyway, thanks for your very kind comments .... they will certainly help make putting Blog No. 2 out there easier................

Excellent Kathrina. Well said and well done.

1

Wow! Katharina, this is, in my opinion, a very powerful post...straight from the heart. I am so glad to see you getting ready to unleash what is there for all the world to benefit from. Best wishes.

Thanks Harold, that is very reassuring. Also, I'm so glad it came across that way (from the heart) because is beautiful to be a member of a community in which all members are heard and supported, and have a real opportunity to succeed. Also, should any newer member in their formative business years (especially if financially somewhat desperate) be tempted to introduce a 'shiny object', there is no shortage of protective (of WA) folk ready to jump in and point them in the right direction (in a kind way).... great mentoring on the go.......

Great points Katharina and so very true. I am looking forward to following you.

Very true Katharina, nothing is easy, what more with success. It needs lots of patience, perseverance, persistence, consistence and many, many more. Nevertheless, the feelings of satisfaction and pleasure will spice up the victory.
You're a winner ! Just don't give up ! :))
Peace ~ Norleila

I finally got into it, heh!
Thanks for your kind comments, Norleila - I can't give up now - especially with all the encouragement and support here. We're all winners if we want to be, here.

I am so excited to finally have my post up (you did inspire me to, today, so a big thank you); I am learning so much from everyone here, and it is fantastic to get the feedback. Here's to all our "Romes" arising, and keeping in touch! :)

1

Patience and take it day by day. Thanks for sharing. :))

3

Thanks Kim. Sometimes I find myself champing at the bit (I want to gallop), and all it does is make my mouth sore, so to speak. I will practise more patience......

2

Don't worry, I know the feeling...:))

1

Yep, and those bricks can get heavy at times.

PS Was my grammar OK?

1

Well, nothing jumped out and bit me, but your content was so engaging I really wasn't noticing. :)

1

I love that nothing jumped out and bit you, and am so pleased you found the content engaging - thanks very much.

2

Anything worth having is worth fighting for. In this instance, sacrifice and patience. I think my next blog will be about having a business for 22 years and the sacrifices that it demanded from me.
Stay focused and committed....

2

Sacrifice and patience and a will to win. 22 years of sacrifices certainly shows you have the staying power. Looking forward to that blog! Keeping committed.

1

I will send you a pm when it is finished.

1

By the way....your grammar was perfect. Your words were from your heart and your heart was loud and clear.

Thank you very much. Have a great day.
