If I share my WA profile, does that work the same as my affiliate link? Will I still get the referral or does it have to be the long form link ?
Yes, each blog even of other members can be shared as your affiliate link by clicking on the green chain icon on top of each content in WA. Copy and paste that link to promote or help others.
thankyou for responding - I mean if I share my WA profile link with my next door neighbour - will I get the referral. I'm talking outside WA.
Are you suggesting my affiliate code is embedded with this technique you have mentioned?
So if I wrote on a piece of paper www.wealthyaffiliate.com/Karsha my cat could sign up and I could get the referral
If you are wanting your actual WA affiliate link it is in your $ sign. Click on that and you will find all your referral links. I suggest that if you know the person and they trust you enough without needing to research to, just send them or write the sign up link, rather than the main page link. That way they are signed up directly under you, without their doing more research and ending up under someone else. Trust me it happened to me. So use the sign up link ☺️
Well THAT is very interesting - yes, I know the link and I had been inclined to use it however I do love a 'pretty link' so I just wondered if referring people to check out my profile at WA (lol who knows why I don't have much going on there) via my pretty link, would sign them in under me or not - you're right tho - I don't want to risk it ... do you ever use bit.ly to pretty your links?
Yes I use bitly when I need to promote WA in programs that don't allow WA lol but pretty links are fine as well. I don't give my profile link because the last time I did the person went and checked out my blogs and then kept clicking other people's profiles and ended up joining under another person...the main page also has too much info and people lose focus and click on other stuff rather than join immediately. I only use my profile link in my website to show people a glimpse of WA.

Hi Karsha,
Even as a bitly shortener or the long direct link, if copied and put in behind a "click here" or even a hilighted color backed word. This allows the word to be clickable and doesn't matter what your long link looks like as it's not seen, unless someone hilights with the mouse and sees the full link at the bottom left corner.
It is professional. I do that in a WA banner too, under linking my link. As the reader on the promo site scans over the banner, they click there and your link is opened.

True that Ken! I like anchor text with keywords when it comes to the affiliate links - just with the social media platforms I choose pretty links to appear less spammy and to have the message, market, match with my prospective customer!
I ask the question because if I don't need to use a bit.ly link I wont (they're a bit over done in some ways..) so the pretty WA link with my profile name is one I would prefer to use.... ONLY if I know I will be paid when I use it...
