The Power of Why
I have been working on my personal and business "why" in recent days. It seems that I really don't have a good "why".
I thought I did, but I really don't have a clue most of the time. I try my best to be positive but that doesn't always work either.
So...
I spent the weekend digging into my "why."
The first few drafts were filled with negative vibes. (I am working on improving my positive vibes.) I didn't even realize I was stating "positive" things in a "negative" way. I didn't know that was possible. But it is.
After working and sharing my why with my mentor, I think I have it now. I'm sharing it here because I am hoping that seeing my "why" might help others explore their why and understand the importance of a strong why.
This "why" will evolve as I grow. A good why should change as we grow. I expect mine to change multiple times.
I am sure willing to help anyone who would like to write a strong "why." Perhaps my next post will be about the steps to take to come up with your why or at least the steps that I employed. Let me know if that would be of interest and I can craft that for my next post.
Why "why" matters?

Your "why" matters because it can serve as your guiding light or roadmap as you make your way through life.
I used to think that my why had to do with trips or travel or material things that I wanted to do.
For the longest time I was under the impression that our "why" had to do with those things. But a "why" is deeper than material things. Much deeper. And we sometimes have to dig through many layers before we can find out the truth of what our "why" is.
When I started out my "why" statement(s), I began with simply stating that I didn't know what I wanted. I felt without purpose, without meaning and without a reason to change myself because honestly, I didn't know what I wanted. I am still not 100% clear on what I want, but I do have a stronger "why" now.
If you are curious, go ahead and read through it below. Like I said, it will evolve over time. I did use ChatGPT to take the negativity out of it so be aware this is partially ChatGPT, but the feelings and sentiment are 100% me!
My "why"

I can see clearly that the life I’m living is ready to expand—and I’m ready to grow with it.
A new chapter is calling, and I’m answering with open hands and a full heart.
I know there is more for me than mere survival.
I am on a journey toward peace, love, and meaning.
There is still so much to explore and experience.
I am here because my life is meaningful—because I believe in myself and the future I am creating.
There is a story within me to live fully and share generously.
I am on a daily journey to learn, grow, and fall in love with life—again and again.
I am living proof that healing is possible, even when it’s imperfect.
I am becoming the kind of woman who shows up fully—scars and strength alike—and offers her story to others as a light in the dark.
This is my why.
Not because I have all the answers.
But because I am still becoming—
And because the life I’m creating will help others rise, too.
Here's to great things to come for all of us! Wishing you all a great and prosperous week!
Karin

Hi Karin,
This was incredibly moving—thank you for being so open and vulnerable. Your “why” resonates deeply, and the honesty in your journey is inspiring. I love how you acknowledged that a strong why isn’t fixed—it evolves as we do. That reminder alone is powerful.
Your words about healing, growth, and showing up fully really struck a chord with me. I’ve been working on building something meaningful myself through https://tigariviral.space, and your post reminds me that clarity comes from within, not just from goals or outcomes.
I’d definitely be interested in your next post about the steps you took—many of us could use that kind of guidance.
Wishing you continued clarity, strength, and peace on your journey.
Warm regards,
@virginmask
This is a very good read Karin. Thank you very much. Yah we all struggle with our Why at some point in time. As for me I keep on grinding. As of now my only Why is I want to grow in my work and spiritual life. So I hanging in there for as long as it takes.
You started some great conversations, Karin.
I think our "why" is strong. We often hide it under lots of bushels before we recognize the core of our" why."
I also have found that using constructive, positive input in our daily lives helps us recognise the real reasons we are where we are.
Your journey is exciting because it is so similar to many of our lives. In some way, I, too, have traveled some of your paths. For a long time here in Wealthy Affiliate, I followed the maps drawn by those whose "why" was very different from mine. I didn't realize how much they were influencing my direction.
I still have much to learn. Congratulations on how far you have traveled.

Hi, Karin,
Thank you for sharing your "why" even though as you said, you didn't put it in words or in a word. I understand how difficult it can be to know why we exist or do what we do. To be honest, I just tried to do it my way as well, which might be a guide to you and others, but never the ONLY way.
It dawned on me in 2017 that there are three things in me:
Being.
Doing.
Meaning.
Thus, being is who I am, not who I wish or want to become. Therefore, who I am right now is my vision, unlike the institutional or business vision. It's not about the future but about the here and now. What I do is my mission, my purpose, my 'why'.
I'm an introverted intuitive empath, which means I am very sensitive. Ah, I don't have to reinvent the wheel but rather, to use what is already known to sociologists about personality types. Knowing my being leads to knowing my doing: writing. Writing is my "why" but why do I write?
I write to share experiences, to try to help others find their why, just as you are doing. This is what produces the legacy, the impact, the results, the meaning. It's what I call Being + Doing = Meaning. Each of these words can mean a different thing to different people, and that's fine.
Now, I write because that's who "I am," not what I do as such It's not work for me to write. It's me living my life. That's my mission, my "why."
Vision: to 'inspire' individuals.
Mission: to 'empower' individuals.
Value: to 'integrate' individuals.
Yes, you can refine your 'why' as you go. But from this concept, my why is already defined and I can only improve, not change it over time because it's rooted in what I think I am, which won't change, I think.
Let me know what you think about this concept and if it 'inspired' you.
John

Nice to hear from you, Karin :)
I keep my "why" close to my heart đź’“every second of the day!
Personal striving is a challenge and we all need to take a check on why we are doing anything. For what reason are we waking up for?
Wising you joy, peace and success.
Kind regards
Erica
