Lessons from The Matrix Part One

I was watching the 1999 Keanu Reeves film The Matrix the other night. While I was watching,

it occurred to me that there are many things to learn from the movie that really do apply to our "real" lives including our blogging lives.

I came up with 17 of them, and, if all goes as planned, I will be writing about them here for the next 17 days. Some are similar, but those of you who know me know that I will put my own personal "spin" on them!

So, sit back, relax and enjoy.

Oh, and if you have not seen the movie, I suggest you do before you read any further because these posts will be chock-full of spoilers!

Lessons learned from The Matrix: Part One

Going from "I can't do this" to being able to fly!

In the first movie, Neo is searching. He doesn't know what he's looking for, but he is searching for something.

Once he understands that the life he had been living was a lie, he begins to learn what the "real" world really is.

He is filled with doubts. He says, "I can't do this,"—a lot. But by the end of the movie, when he comes to believe in himself, he can fly.

There is a lot that has to take place for this realization to come to life in Neo (played by Keanu Reeves).

He has to come to believe a lot of things about not only the matrix, but about the real world and about himself.

When he finally does, the world—real and computer generated—will never be the same.

Relating this to our blogging lives

How does this relate to our blogging lives?

Well, the number one correlation that I see is simply this: We need to go from saying, "I can't do this" or "This will never work" or whatever our doubt-filled minds can come up with and start believing that we can fly!

Why do we NEED to be able to fly?

That is how we know when our doubts have lifted. When we have taken the necessary steps, we will know because we will be able to fly.

Neo couldn't fly his first try. He fell to the ground, just like everyone else. But he kept getting up and trying over and over and over again.

That's what we have to remember. We aren't going to fly on our first try. It may take hundreds of attempts (hundreds of blog posts?), but eventually, if we are putting our heart into it and shredding those doubts that hold us back, we are going to see progress.

Optimism is our friend!

I fully believe in the ability to fly by the stories we tell on our blogs. Those stories will allow us to connect with readers in a way that only words can do. By those connections, we will gain loyal readers. By gaining loyal readers, we will gain "customers."

Our goal here is to make money. But along the way, why can't we make friends? Why can't we share things that will enhance and help the lives of our readers? Why can't we learn that we can fly?

Oh, and by the way, in case you hadn't heard yet, the 4th Matrix movie is due out in May 2020! I can hardly wait!

Watch for tomorrow's post about not letting things "bug" you. If you have seen the movie, you know what I am talking about!

Have a great day and start spreading your wings because you can—believe it or not—fly!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Awesome analogy to take movies as connection to real life. Normally we watch a movies for entertainment. But the message behind every movies and behind the scene tell all about the tales and truth. Great to know you are on your sit to become a director of your movies call 'My Lifes' is coming soon in 2020.😁😁👆👌👏💪👍

I almost always believe there are deeper meanings to movies, at least before they go "Hollywood."

Best wishes,

Excellent post Karin! I haven't watched the Matrix in a long time, but definitely one of my favorites...I might just have to watch this again now that you reminded me of it. So true...our beliefs have to change first...mindset is a powerful thing!

Looking forward to your next,

I just watched the Matrix series after 15 years or so. The first movie is a true classic and it felt just as fresh as the first time I saw it. It's full of philosophical metaphors and an ingenious script about the dangers of technology. Definitely one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time.

I thought of the Matrix as the rat race we call society. We, people, are the battery that keep it spinning but we have lost touch with what we truly are. We just go to work, consume and repeat the cycle. To see things for what they truly are can be bleak, but at the same time liberating. Just like blogging! :D

The two sequels were clearly blockbuster Hollywood movies with a simpler script and message. Didn't really enjoy them that much.

So tell me, are you ready to stay in Wonderland, and see how deep the rabbit hole goes? ;)

Thanks for you input. I love it! We are the rat race! I have been going down the rabbit hole for a while now!~

Best wishes,
Karin 😁
