When to purchase your own domain?

I purchased my own domain yesterday because I figured if I really am going to do this, having my own domain was the way to go. I am curious though what made you decide to purchase your own domain? What was the deciding factor between keeping your siterubix web page and owning your own? I know there are many people on WA that aren't sure when they should make the jump.

I purchased several domains, and skipped the two free domains WA offers in their package, as I had prior experience with creating a web site and even though that past hosting provider said migration to or from another hosted site would be simple, I feel skipping the free domain-name-offer was/is the better choice. It would seem by purchasing your own domain, your domain name looks more professional and would provide a stronger self-incentive to make something of your site since you're paying for the hosting as a part of your WA membership (plus, saving a few technical steps and time). However, if you're not familiar or new to creating a web site, or undecided about your long-term goals, the two free domains offered by WA may be the better choice.

Kaiden, I agree with Michelle go as soon as possible. If you are comfortable that you are happy with your niche get the website and then you can start getting the same name on the different social media platforms.

I would say make the jump as soon as possible. Domains are relatively cheap and you can usually get one for an entire year for less than 10 USD, so there's no real point to putting it off.

Once you have chosen your niche and you have a title for your website, then go get it.

I think people hold on to their siterubix pages because they're on the fence about their niche, or WA, or their own capability to make it work.

Its really comes down to making the commitment to put in the work and believing that you can and WILL get it done.

So congrats on making that commitment!
