The Next Big Thing, My Brand!

I'm almost through with Level 4 in the training, and I must say, this has been the busiest level yet. The social media thing is pretty challenging. I got thrown a new word in this training, about writing an article. I posed the question as to what is an article? The answers are, "the same as a page or post." Well, why is there a separate task for both? I don't get it. I don't want to upset anyone, but being that I am a scientist by trade, I feel the need for accuracy and precision.

So with a little research, I think I've got it figured out. I will write an "article". As I was delaying getting up this morning, and I think I finally figured out what to write. That's coming in the next day or so. it'll be the next big thing! Well, Not really, just sounded good! Sorry, this is my early morning humor, it's 5:56am babble!

Why is this bothering me you ask? It's messing with my OCD. Can't rest until it's correct in my own head!

In going back to training and accomplishments, There's a mountain to climb and I'm going to get to the top. I think I've got a pretty good website started. I'm bringing my passion for cooking to life! Retirement's coming and I have had this dream of opening my own Spice Store for many, many years. Well, unfortunately, that ain't happening! For one thing, I don't have the physical stamina like I used to, or the funds.

With the economy crash in 2008, my husbands' business pretty much died, he's had his own plumbing company for 35 years. We live in a small town and I think the big guns are stealing all the leaky pipes! Money's not coming in like it used to, so we have to think of our future. With the cooking and spice passion still in my blood, I needed to come up with an answer. I was feeling a little empty.

Then I found WA!. This is giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts on cooking and especially spices.

I'm working on my brand, there is a lot of competition out there in the cooking world. After all, we have to eat, right? But I think I have a handle on that. I'm going to ask my Facebook friends for their opinion on the wording.

There's a lot of work to do, and I'm ready. Thank you Wealthy Affiliate! More to come when I get the brand and then a Logo finalized!

Thanks Terand, best to you too! Have a great weekend!

Hi Jeanette,

I can't wait to see what you got cooking! :-)

Cheers,
John

Thanks John, I see you're from South Africa, any ideas for African recipes? What's your favorite? I don't know too much about African cooking, but learning is what I'm all about!
Have a great weekend!
Jeanette

Hi Jeanette,

Yes, I am from South Africa and down here 'braai' (barbecue) food is number one for most. One of the best things we love to have on a braai is called a "potjie". Pretty much a cast iron 3-legged pot that is layered with different things like: a layer of cabbage, a bit of oil, onions, lamb pieces, dried tomato, bay leaves, carrots, etc.
This, of coarse, should be done on a proper fire - not gas. Cooking with gas to us is not really barbecuing.
The pot goes over the fire and perhaps a few coals on top of the lid. It is a slow cooking process and needs a bit of preparation beforehand. But it usually goes on the fire for an hour or so.
But when it comes to home cooking I have favourites of which one is: Bobotie and then "Tamatie kos (Tamatiebredie)" [Tomato and beef stew] followed by cottage pie and beef Lasagne.
This is of course traditional to the white South African folk here.

The other cultures differ greatly from ours. Their traditional food will be stuff like: "Pap en Wors" (It is like a white, stiff, maize meal porridge with pieces of beef sausages), Chicken feet and all other kinds of traditional food I am not so much into. But then there are 11 different tribes down here.

I love the food here but then again, I have not been in the US before to try their cuisine.

Kind regards,
John

Thanks so much John for that information!
Sorry I took so long to get back to you, I've been writing my next big thing! I am going to research these dishes and see if I can duplicate them My way! They'll have to be "Americanized" because I think my neighbors would be kind of upset if we built a fire in our yard and started cooking chicken feet. Just kidding, I'm not into them either! That is my brand I'm going for! I'm going to post my last post on WA. Check it out!
I'll keep you posted on my progress, this is going to be fun! I hope there's lots of spices, coz that's my thing!!!

Warm regards,
Jeanette

Great stuff, Jeanette!

I had a good laugh about the fire in the back yard. But yes, we like our food tasty. Spices are good but not too much so that it borders on Indian cuisine.
But then nothing can be wrong with great tasting food no matter the culture!

All the best with the next big thing.

Regards,
John.
